Bloody hell, that took a lot of time and effort - MANY THANKS 👍

Is it a case of reformatting the relevant Everdrive and quick formatting it, etc, then adding your complete pack?  Does it include relevant directory files?
Does the version number (v3 etc) mean the packs will only work with that version of card?
In which case could I remove the ROM folders from your packs and replace my ROMS with yours?

Once again, your efforts on our behalf are appreciated.

Cheers.

Don't forget to thank Smokemonster for his work. (he lurks around here somewhere)

The only relevant directories you don't want to remove would be the bios folder that boots the card and builds the directories. These rom packs do include the current bios for each Everdrive card. V3 is simply the third version of that rom pack, having nothing to do with the Everdrive version. Works with all Everdrives. You can remove/switch any roms/folders you wish as long as it's not the bios. Wont effect the pack.

And as Goombakid said this isn't my work, everyone thank Smokemonster for his extremly hard work on these. Saved everyone a lot of time.

These are awesome!

I wonder if Smokemonster has plans on assembling a pack for the GB/GBC or Game Gear Everdrive. Does anyone know of a good place to get Everdrive friendly ROMs? I think I definitely need to grab them on the Game Gear because I had a few glitched ones (that should work fine on ED as far as I've read)

These are great, thanks. But is there any possibility of getting them as torrent files, please? It's just much more reliable for downloading large files, for those of us with bad 'net connections.

Also, regarding the N64 packs, why are the 64DD and Aleck64 games not included? You've done a great job of adding everything else (as far as I can tell), so it seems strange to leave these out.

Are you able to use a download manager like Getright or Flashget?

I'll try them thanks. The only one I tried was Internet Download Accelerator, which unfortunately couldn't download the files.

If those don't work, try JDownloader. That supports just about any sharing site imaginable and will let you resume downloads assuming the site itself supports it. Here's a link to a clean version of the installer:

Download accelerators will more than likely not work because of the 3rd party file sharing site (pay for faster downloads kind of thing) and those site won't allow it.

Also, Smokemonster. You might wanna check some of the files there. At least the TG16/PCE link shows "file not found".

Smokemonster left the internet recently and took everything with him so unless someone downloaded every everdrive pack he ever uploaded then these are gone to history as all the links are dead.

Smokemonster ragequit the internet recently and took everything with him so unless someone downloaded every everdrive pack he ever uploaded then these are gone to history as all the links are dead.

Why did he do that? He put so much work into them, so why just take them down again?

If anyone downloaded them, then please see if you make them available somehow, for those of us who didn't download them because we thought that they'd be available for a long time yet.

Supposedly this is the reason but there has to be more to it.

Sad that it ended up with him leaving.

The reason SM left theisozone is because the owner of TIZ/firedrop.com began ranting political views in the site's forums. SM posted one short message (http://www.theisozone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=58853&p=409668#p409668) and disappeared. There was no drama, it was simply a content creator exercising their ability to leave. TIZ profits from its content, so it's easy to work out why this happened.

The packs will surely re-materialize in a new home. TIZ has been terribly broken and outdated for years so any change will be a welcome improvement.

Hoping he'll do a GB / GBC one, can anyone ask him ? :)

I haven't actually downloaded it yet, but I'm pretty sure he already did. It's in the GBA section, packaged up with an emulator for use on the rumored/anticipated GBA Everdrive for which so many of us are waiting.

Did something happen to the SmokeMonster packs?
They used to be available at mega.nz and the epforums with the links was public read (not the link though).
Now the epforums thread requires login and the mega.nz links that I used to use are no longer working, I'd say it started maybe yesterday or the day before (as I managed to re-donwload the N64 pack).

Anyone?

He's moved it all to google drive. You need to go to the epforums thread to get the link. If you're not registered, you'll need to do that too.

The links in that reddit post are out of date and not working anymore.

Can someone explain how to compile SmokerMonsters packs for Windows, i have the no-intro romset, EverDrive-Packs-Lists-Database (with all the .txt files in) and Python installed but haven't a clue to compile say if i wanted to compile the, Mega EverDrive SMDB??

roms are located in, d:\roms\genesis
everdrive pack list is located in, d:\SM Everdrive Packs
and python, c:\python

or failing that where the latest Everdrive complete download can be found?

Strange times indeed for the packs. They were taken down on Archive, then the next day went back up. The uploader spent the next day or so uploading everything again, but within 2 days they were gone again.

Not sure why this has happened so quickly this time. It's par for the course that every so often they get removed, but for the past few years at least they then normally find a new page (or home) fairly quickly.

This time it feels different, like maybe someone or some entity higher up is (Nintendo perhaps?) actively ensuring they are no longer available. I hope I'm wrong and they find a new home somewhere.

It may be that they have to be scattered by console from now on to ensure their survival, rather than having everything on one page. Or maybe having titles that don't mention 'Everdrive' might help.

Seeing that outcome is just about as random as the recently released Famicom game America Daitouryou Senkyo unfinished being removed from romhackings page a single hour after it was uploaded though it was bad timing with what just happened over there, almost the same outcome as Star Ocean Blue Sphere on the Gameboy ended up being lost... likely nearer to the time in the future it will not be lost to time.

Never had an issue finding any sort of pack or rom, having been on private torrent sites for retro video games since early 2000's.  There are about 6 or so good ones out there currently.   Try to get into one.

Edit: It's back up now but with a text replacement to imagine its one of the near earliest Japan games that came out if you consider 1987 is my closest target http://www.romhacking.net/translations/5755/

Well most forums do not allow direct rom linking.  The problem with these packs now are that once Smokemonster stopped curating, there's zero quality control.  I have found many roms that do not run on the very devices they're purported (Everdrive's, Gamedrive's, etc).  There's also no effort at doing changelists, so someone like me who has all of these archives has no idea what may have been added or removed.

Please forgive me but I fail to understand your position.. members have been posting direct links to Everdrive rom packs here for 6yrs without banning long time users. Why out of the blue do I get banned for posting what many others have always done?

The collection of Everdrive packs in this massive collection are immaculate, fully functional and painstakingly curated. Tested personally on my n64, famicom and SD2snes.. I fail to see your point.. why should I be banned without warning after all this time now for sharing like we always have here?

Also I know for a fact mods are aware but ignoring this.. If I'm breaking some unwritten rule that's magically changed all of a sudden message me and let me know.. don't just remove my account  >:(
Title: Re: EverDrive Complete Game Packs
Post by: nuu on April 03, 2021, 12:24 PM
Not allowing roms is understandable as they could get in trouble if they allow that too much, or if the forum turns into a rom sharing place. I haven't seen a formal rule for it though, and Krikzz even used to post roms himself long ago. When he added more moderators they started to enforce this unwritten rule at some point.
I find it very strange that they couldn't just give you a warning and delete the links instead of banning you.
