[N8 PRO] HELP! How to COPY file to SD card via USB?
« on: April 09, 2021, 08:51 PM »
I have an Everdrive N8 Pro (NES). I am able to copy roms to the system via USB using edlink-n8.exe. However, this just copies them to RAM, and when the system restarts the game is gone.

Is there a way to copy it to the SD card instead?

The readme says "-cp Copy file on SD card" so I am trying this:

Code: [Select]
edlink-n8 my_game.nes -cp
But I get an error:

Code: [Select]
C:\Users\Matt\Downloads\edlink-n8-v1.0.0.3>edlink-n8 my_game.nes -cp
edlink-n8 v1.0.0.3
EverDrive found at COM3
EDIO status: 0000
ERROR: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

I did a little more digging and found the source code for the and the line that parses the command line args.

https://github.com/krikzz/EDN8-PRO/blob/604a17d34d3b1bfdd6463ef3b1b464ebce30b6d9/edlink-n8/edlink-n8/Program.cs#L118

I can see now that it is expecting a source and a destination. However, it seems to be expecting an absolute path to the SD card. Does anyone know what that will be?

Figured it out!

.\edlink-n8.exe -cp my_game.nes sd:EDN8\

The key is "sd:" at the start of the path and then a folder to put the ROM in. I chose EDN8 because it already exists, but you could make your own folder as well, or use just "sd:EDN8\" to place it in the root folder.
