Off Topic / Shipping time from japan?
« on: May 23, 2016, 12:36 AM »
Hi I have a question don't know if anyone knows but I'm going to be buying an AV Famicom from Japan and I was just wondering how long something from japan usually takes.

Off Topic / 15" Sharp LCD EDTV
« on: March 28, 2016, 02:24 AM »
Link to Pictures I've been using the above tv for my SNES and other older systems and it's been a godsend. It has CRT like input delay which is to say virtually non existent. I've ran 240p Test Suit on both the snes via s video and the original wii through component. On both systems I have done the manual lag test multiple times and gotten perfect button presses every time. Now I tested this one my crt also and its the same. Just for a comparison I tried it out on my 42 inch Sanyo HDTV. since it has an s video input on it. Both the snes and the wii had some form of input delay. I couldn't get it perfect meaning not missing a single button press but it is relatively low. The 15" Sharp LCD EDTV is just fantastic. The reason I've been using it instead of my CRT is because as we all know CRT's can have geometry problems like the screen either being misshapen, the corners being bowed, just things like that. They can also have color bleeding issues. Since this Sharp tv is an LCD those are pretty much gone. The picture looks crystal clear on it even with s video and looks great. The only issue I can see is that when you are moving like in a platformer the screen dims a little and I mean a really small amount. But that's pretty common in older LCD's I've noticed. Other than that it's fine. It won't in anyway effect play. Oh and of course I should mention in the 240p test suite on the wii I did all the tests like scrolling and the dropped tests and everything to make sure 240p was handled correctly through component for those of you who want to play ps1 on a ps2 through component or using a scart to component converter. All in all it's a fantastic tv. Also for those of you looking for something a little bigger than 15 inches sharp made larger versions of the exactly same tv. I've seen a 20 inch version on amazon for under 100 bucks but I got mine for 25 off craigs list so there you go. I decided to make this post because I've been looking online around different forums and I don't see anyone ever mention these older EDTV's as an option for retro games. It's surprising consider how amazingly well this damn thing works.

Off Topic / SNES Vertical Line Not There
« on: January 08, 2016, 01:07 AM »
Ok so I didn't really know where to post this but I am aware of the Super Nintendo vertical line issue. I know that the 1 CHIP models and the Mini Super nintendo's you can't really see it on them. I have had several super nintendos that have had the vertical line as normal. I've come to expect it at this point having been playing SNES for the last 20 years. Within that time I have never once come across one that didn't have it in one way or another until recently. I bought an original super nintendo not a 1 chip either I checked. But an original non 1 chip snes and the vertical isn't just almost gone like the 1 chip or mini's but theres no trace of it period. It's literally 100 percent gone. I have tried it on multiple different displays, HD CRT's regular CRT's, HD LED TV's and it's just gone. How often does this happen? I've even done a side by side comparison with my other super nintendo which does have it. I'm assuming maybe the person who owned it before me probably fixed the vertical line issue but if they didn't is it common at all to find a non 1 chip snes that doesnt have the vertical line?

For some reason Super Empire Strikes back and Return of The Jedi have weird issues with the 0.1.7 preview 4 firmware. on empire strikes back for example the game will randomly pause for a second every 5 or 10 seconds. Your sword and blaster will switch on random. It makes the game almost unplayable. On return of the jedi your force powers will automatically trigger them selves without you doing anything. It's very annoying. Is there any fix for those two games or do I have to downgrade to an earlier firmware? By the way I have disabled the in game reset feature for both games and it did not fix the issues.

EverDrive N8 / New Everdrive N8 Firmware?
« on: July 05, 2015, 06:27 AM »
This has probably been answered before if so I apologize. I was just wondering if anyone knows when a new firmware is coming out for the Everdrive N8 or if krikzz has like a place where he posts updates to progress or anything like that? Just curious. Anyway thank you for such a wonderful product.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / SD2SNES Question regarding special chips.
« on: October 20, 2013, 08:25 PM »
I recently ordered an SD2SNES Flash cart from retrogate and I understand how it works except for one aspect of it. How exactly does it emulate the special chips and is the emulation of the chips as close to the original games or how good is it? For example games like Mega Man X3 use the CX4. Will Mega Man X3 look and function the same as the real thing? Same goes for the other games that use special chips. Thank you for your time.
