DIY Repairs for ED64 V2.52 question
« on: September 11, 2020, 04:05 AM »
So I got the dreaded red +SDR error after 2 years of not using it. Due to everything going on with COVID and shipping times, as well as cost, I've decided to go about repairing it myself. It's my understanding that the MT48LC32M16A2-75 IT:C chip is the one that needs to be replaced, so I've gone ahead and ordered it.

What I would like to ask; has anyone experienced more than one failure of the DRAM, or was this likely from a bad batch, or maybe it got exposed to some environmental factor which may have damaged it? The only thing that ever happened with it was someone flicking between PAL & NTSC when it was on. I could see that causing some issues due to the frequency changes

I really love this thing. It has been an ongoing nostalgia party since 2015, and I want to know how to protect against this issue in the future.
