EverDrive N8 / SD Cards for N8 (Not PRO)
« on: March 20, 2021, 11:52 PM »
I am growing weary of trying to use my N8 with new games that appear, which should actually work on the device.

After messing with the card for 3 hours, I finally got the Demos from the latest NesMaker to work, months ago.

I heard about Super Mario Bros. Unlimited - Deluxe this week.  So I added it to the card, got about 40 blue screens, a red screen, 3 green screens that led to glitches, and a grey screen or 2.

I got disk I/O error 63/63/62/63 alternating every time I would reset the device, for a few minutes, although not all of the time.

Finally I got nothing but Error 58 for this game - even though every other game I tried loaded fine.

I gave up on both maplin and Sandisk Extreme 16gb cards with full (well folder structured) Smokemonster set.

Now, I will mention that half way through all of the problems, the SMB Unlimited did work, and did also save for me with savestates.

Never consistently.

I just formatted a 2 gb SD card.  I only put the EDFC 1.25 folder and the game on it.  It seems to work after a few restarts and plenty of saves on this.

Can anyone tell me what SD cards actually work?

I just want to know how I can consistently get this card to work with games that are supposed to work with it.

I'm not buying a PRO, because, with the games I want to play, AFAIK, I shouldn't need it.

Is the N8 flawed, or how can I end the frustration, with new games that I try?

I'd appreciate feedback on the matter, as, from reading other comments recently, I am sure other would too.

Thanks for any help.

Does Space Boy work on anyones N8?

I found it in the unlicensed folder in the Smokemonster romset, and it just displays a grey screen when I load it.

N8 with latest OS.

I got a card working fine with Primary format, on FAT32.  I first copied over v20 beta1 from

That worked fine.  I then replaced the folder with the v1.20 download on and I get a Gree screen which turns cyan or gray, and then stalls there.

Am I doing something wrong here?  Should the OG N8 not run with v1.20 from the N8 page?

Could someone tell me what type of SD card I need to run on a non PRO N8?

What version of the OS will work?

Everything I try now, ends up with a blue screen.

How should the SD Card be formatted, Primary or Logical drive?  FAT32?  Any particular cluster size?

Thanks for any help.

Has anyone tried the bundle of game demos from this years byte off on their real NES with N8 (not pro?)  Do the games work for you?

Every game I have tried has shown up glitched to an unplayable degree.

Nevermind, I put everything on another card, and Start +L and R now works.

I got the new Furious release

It seems to say that Select Up/Down/Left/Right will select your slot, then depending on if you pressed Start L (for saving) or Start R (for loading) it will load or save when you press Select and direction.  Is that correct?

I cannot get mines to save on any game, trying with SMW.  In game savestates is On in config menu although it looks grey not white and true in Config.yml.

Can anyone help that has got save/loads to work?

There is another option, which is what I’ve used to add remote reset functionality to my N64. I ordered one of these, and installed it to my console. It works like a charm.

I have some of those!  Good idea.  In fact I thought of this myself in the past for the NES, but I suppose it's not what I was asking here.  I assumed there would have been a button combo.

EverDrive 64 / In game menu, or exit game button combination?

Does the Everdrive 64 x7 have an In game menu, or exit game button combination, to exit the current game without having to go and press the reset button?

It doesn't work with Everdrive.

Has anyone tried the N8 with a Pro Action Replay cart interface?

I'll be getting one soon, and just wondered if anyone has any experience using both together?

Of course I'll report back with my results, but excited to be getting a device that should allow things that the N8 alone cannot achieve :-)

Amazing!!  Great work by everyone involved.

EverDrive N8 / Mapper 30 and NES MAKER games
« on: November 06, 2018, 06:06 AM »
The mapper Bananamos posted here can be added to the MAPS folder on EDFC and allows the everdrive to run NES Maker games.

Every time I want to search for this, I can't find it, and it seems to be a big update.

I wanted to read it again, becasue it seemed to have 5 or 6 different versions.

Is it correct that the correct version should be chosen for the game that you want to play?  That there is not a version with all of the mappers in one package?
