Title: Super Everdrive V2.3D - DSP Games Not Working
Post by: Leppy31 on March 03, 2015, 02:21 AM
I just got a new Super Everdrive V2.3D with integrated DSP chip and I can't get any DSP games to play.  I've tried Pilotwings and Super Mario Kart specifically.  I have OS v3 installed on the SD as well as the .bin files for DSP-1, DSP-1B, DSP-2, DSP-3, & DSP-4.  The games will load, but as soon as they get to parts involving actual gameplay, large parts of the screen just flash in solid grey blocks.  Am I missing something or is there something wrong with my Everdrive?

Check if DSP enabled in options

When a DSP enhanced game is loaded, the DSP option does show that it's enabled with the corresponding DSP type.  I've tried changing it but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

Try my SPED folder. Link in PM

I'm having the exact same issue here. The chip is pre installed in the cart and I enabled it in the options and I still get graphical glitches when playing Super Mario Kart and Lakito lifts me the moment I start taking control of the character then never letting me go

Actually I got it fixed just now. Just had to download the DSP.bin files and place them to the SPED folder

I was also able to resolve this issue as well with Krikzz's assistance.  I had to end up transferring a new copy of the SPED folder through a different PC and also re-downloaded my ROM set just in case there were issues there.  I'm no longer seeing the issue and all of my DSP enhanced ROMS are working flawlessly.

Will this new unit have the potential to emulate other chips as well, such as CX4?

Howdy guys.  Got my ever drive the other day, and I can't seem to get pilot wings or mario kart to work right. I have all the Dsp bin files in the sped folder. Other games seem to work fine.  I've tried dozens of different pilot wing roms, none load past title screen.  I love pilot wings so I might send it back if I can't get that miter to work . Any ideas?  Thanks!

Check if letters in dsp file names in uppercase (especially actual for mac os users). It should looke like DSP1.BIN and not like dsp1.bin or DSP1.bin

KRIKzz, does your DSP module support the ST-0010 chip found in the F1 Race of Champions 2 game? This chip seems to be similar to the DSPs, but it's not mentioned anywhere, I just wanted to confirm.

Hello there. I'm also having the same problem. I've bought the deluxe edition of the Super Everdrive a couple of months from now, and the DPS1 games are still not working, even after getting the DSP1.BIN file in the SPED folder. The DSP setting is always enabled, so I can only assume that I need to have the SPED folder copy that krikzz mentioned.

Thanks.

Hi. I also need some assistance to get DSP-games to work. I just bought Snes-ed with DSP but haven't managed to get the dsp-games work yet. Placed all the dsp-files in to SPED folder (needed to rename the Files to correspond the required names (For eg. DSP1.BIN). When trying to start any DSP-game for eg. super mario kart, it just shows the Nintendo-logo in the middle of the screen and Plays "pling" sound and then it stucks there. Tried by enabling DSP1 or DSP1B from the options, no difference.

What may cause this problem, bad bin-files, roms or something else? Already tried with two different sets of bin-files downloaded from the different places.

The problem you are all having is that only one version of the chip bios files work. You can't use the bios files in No-Intro for example. The correct bios can be found in GoodSNES v3.23. The working bios files have this in their title "(for older BSNES).smc".

So for DSP1B for example: rename "DSP1B BIOS (W) (for older BSNES).smc" to DSP1.BIN

Or you can get them all in a pack that I uploaded at theisozone. Go there and search for Everdrive & SD2SNES Special Chip Bios Files. Just copy them to your SPED folder and your chip will come to life :)

Here (https://mega.nz/#!cdk0jB6Y!9dY1NP-a2fgs3TvbGpRtv4Sw0Gh0CBA6W23vXKBWRek) are all of the special chip bios files for Super EverDrive (DSP) and SD2SNES (various).

Recently bought Super everdrive with DSP. DSP games are working but there are lots of graphic glitches, for example supermario kart, the characters are glithced and tweaked to the right of the screen, backgrounds are fine. Tried the DSP files posted in this thread but not working. Anybody can help?

What is the source of your roms? Those are known good DSP bios files, tested on Super Everdrive and SD2SNES.

I got the same problem. Already tried various DSP*.BIN files and various ROM files, DSP is turned on. I can also hear the "pling" at Mario Kart, but then it freezes. I already tried different SD cards and I use the Super Everdrive ROM set (3.1) from theisozone.

Stick with No-Intro. GoodNES and random direct download site roms are garbage.

Already tried the no intro set from archive.org. I think the Super Everdrive set from theisozone is also based on that.

Did you extract the .BIN files from my pack (https://mega.nz/#!cdk0jB6Y!9dY1NP-a2fgs3TvbGpRtv4Sw0Gh0CBA6W23vXKBWRek) to your /SPED folder?

Have you tried it in another SNES and are you using the OEM power supply?
Title: Re: Super Everdrive V2.3D - DSP Games Not Working

I am using this PSU on a SNES mini, that should be even better than the original PSU: http://en.retrogamesupply.com/collections/nintendo/products/power-supply-for-nintendo-super-nes-us-ntsc
Title: Re: Super Everdrive V2.3D - DSP Games Not Working
Post by: SmokeMonster on February 22, 2016, 12:32 PM
The power supply you linked isn't a good choice. It's just a $1 Chinese PSU (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=9v+1a+power+supply&_sop=15) with a different tip (cheap switching mode PSUs can also introduce video noise). I would try it in another console with an OEM power supply just to be safe.

I also use their PSUs for Turbo Duo, Master System, US NES and the 3in1 for the Mega Drive 2 + CD + 32X and they are working just fine. Could play DSP games with their US SNES PSU and the PowerPak, too.
But I will try out the original PSU with a step down converter later.

It is the same problem with the original PSU.

It sounds like you've exhausted all of the possibilities on your end. I would contact krikzz about returning it for a replacement.

Krikzz is really good about replacements, so it's nothing to worry about.

Okay, thanks for the info :) I got an EverDrive for every console krkzz supports (so I think I got 8 now) and besides that I can not use a newer OS on the ED64 (which I do not really need, but strange anyway) I never got any problems. I think I will contact him, so that I can enjoy all of my EverDrives :)

Nice. You might as well send in the ED64 at the same time if you think it's a hardware issue.

Hello,

I've just received my Super Everdrive V2 + DSP from Krikzz.
I was super excited to try F Zero and Pilot Wings however even though I tried different batches of DSP files from this forums the DSP games do not appear right at all.

They will load and boot but when in the actual game itself, it's all strange.
Pilot Wings won't show the landing strip or the horizon correctly and F Zero has strange boarders of the racetrack which just overlap anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

And what games are having those issues? F-Zero, a non DSP game, had those issues too. Is it just games that use Mode 7?

I did the SNES burn in hardware test and everything passed. Although I don't know how extensive it is.

As for rom sources I only tried 2 different backup sources so far.
I haven't tried too many games yet but fzero and pilotwings  and Mario kart all don't display correctly.

Could you please try out a ROM that is not using Mode 7? Try Super Mario World, Earthbound or Zelda (okay, this one is using Mode 7 for the map).

Hi guys.

Here's the update
The issue was with my super Nintendo and not the ever drive.

In case anyone wants to know it's very possible for a SNES to have mode 7 stop working correctly.

Like I guessed. I am sorry to hear, that your SNES is malfunctioning, but at least you know what it is. Have fun with the EverDrive on your next SNES :)

Not to worry Badsector I bought another SNES.

Another thing that should be said is that my 1st SNES that I got last year had a problem with Mode 7. The background graphics would be distorted. Also it had a lot more slow-down when playing games compared with the 2nd SNES I just bought.

For example, Super Ghouls N Ghosts would have massive slow down on the first level when you got a few characters on the screen.
My 2nd SNES has some slight slow down but nowhere near as bad.
I wonder if this is an issue for other consoles out there

So I recently got the super everdrive Version X. The snes tester game works, but the only game I really got the everdrive for is SMK. The game loads about 3 sec in, the nintendo logo comes on the screen, there is a sound of a coin.... the nintendo label stays there and nothing happens. Previously someone in the chat posted a link to some BIOS files which may help. Those links from the posts have expired. I've been searching the web for hours looking for a workaround.
