doesn't crash here, what rom did you try?

I played through a couple of planets myself, so no issues with my ROM from the Smokemonster set.

I use the hotkey on my Hi-Def NES to reset my console. There are 2 hotkeys: Long Reset and Short Reset. I used to be able to use the Long Reset to return to the EverDrive menu, but it no longer works in v1.20. It seems like it now requires RESET to be held down much longer on the console itself to return to the menu.
Also, I miss the old FDS loader that looked like it emulated the original FDS BIOS. Would it be possible to get that back?
I can live with the FDS change though. The reset issue is a much bigger problem for me. That being said, the full MMC5 support is great! Thank you so much for all your effort, Krikzz!

Hi,
I have lot of glitch with Karnov all version from NO-INTRO roms. Can someone confirm ?
I didn't had this issue before the 1.20 version.

I have the same with Back to the future II but Karnov its really a shame.
Do you think it could be fix ?

Haven't played much NES since I updated but I can confirm that Karnov doesn't work on my stock Front Loader. I'm going back to previous firmware until this gets fixed and/or get an N8pro when I get an A/V Famicom.

On 1.21 reset to menu is broken on my NES toploader, it always goes to a black screen. It's fine on 1.20.
-
1.21 works fine here.
I see this after reset and everything boots normally.
OS init...
ok
-
Hi,
I confirm Karnov is fixed with this new 1.21 firmware
thanx Krizz !

Yes same issue here with my nes frontloader ,reset from the menu is ok but reset from a game give me back to a black screen.
edit : after some search , the reset issue is probably related to the SDcard and folder management

Was mapper 99 not fixed in the 1.21? Vs. Excitebike still shows the same glitchy graphics.

Vs. Excitebike works for me with no issues as does Karnov and the reset function. I'll test some more but v. 1.21 seems solid so far.
-
oh cool. I'll try another ROM for the AC Vs. Excitebike hack, but, of course the FDS version runs with no issues since that's a different mapper. No problems with Karnov, Wario's Woods, and Ki no Bouken (which was probably due to a bad rom, not 1.20).
-
Doh. Didn't realize there's a 1.22 out. Will test again. Edit: Tried 1.22. The Vs. Ice Climber hack that uses mapper 1 showed a gray screen, but I may just have to delete and recopy. Need to test more MMC1 games.
-
currently testing 1.22. VS exitebike works fine as well as Karnov.
Mapper 1: tested: kid ikarus, blaster master and ice climber on FDS
No bug so far.
Frontload with tim RGB mod4
-
V1.22 tested and no issue with Karnov and Kid Icarus on PAL NES
But blank page on reset too.
-
1.22 fixed the reset to black screen bug on my system.
-
:) fortunately i tested 1.22 before reformating my sd card and reset issue is fixed also for me
-
Did you play Vs. Excitebike (not FDS) after the title screen? I'll see if I can find another ROM to test, but it's still showing the same glitched graphics during gameplay for me. No issue with Karnov or most MMC1 games. Trying another ROM of that Vs. Ice Climber hack to see if that's the issue.
The rom I used for Vs. Excitebike was "Excitebike (VS) [NES-hack v1.2].nes with a checksum of F58C99D7. The rom from the Smokemonster pack (which I sent to Krikzz in PM) has the checksum of E1AF3048.
The 2.0b rom of the Vs. Ice Climber hack booted to black screen and then played with garbled graphics when I reset to game. Checksum D732018E. The 2.1 version of the hack that also gave me a blank screen (didn't test reset to game) has a checksum of C6CCF3CC.
currently testing 1.22. VS exitebike works fine as well as Karnov.
Mapper 1: tested: kid ikarus, blaster master and ice climber on FDS
Ice Climber for FDS works for me too. It's not the same rom as the Vs. System Hack (which is a .nes rom, same with the hack of the AC Vs. Excitebike).

I noticed there is a new update v1.23 that adds mapper 111 compatibility, does that include the self flashing functionality that mapper offers? The implementation that was released on nesdev a while ago was lacking that, because there was no way for the mapper to write the modified data back to the sdcard.

Without saving self fleshed data.

Ok, that's what I thougt. Still, it's good to have official support for that mapper out of the box. Do you think saving the self flashed data is going to be possible at some point in the future or is that not really in the cards for the everdrive?

Not sure about that. Whole space in OS rom already used, i should remove something to include any new functions in OS

So maybe for the n8 pro then?
-
pro already supports such feature for mapper 111 and 30
-
Thank you for the updates. Mapper 99 works great. I found something odd with that Vs. Ice Climber AC hack. It gives me a gray screen when loading from the menu, but when I set reset to game and go back to the AVS menu before restarting, it loads!

I'm noticing some glitching on the title screen and menus of Namco Classic II. I wanted to goof around with games that use the Namco 163 expansion sound, and came across it that way.
I didn't do a full reformat on this card yet, but would be curious if anyone else can confirm this or not before I do so.
-
I noticed a few of the ROMs with the Namco mapper have incorrect headers (had to do some searching for Ki no Bouken before I found a ROM that worked. I also had to change the header of the Family Circuit translation to mapper 206). I haven't tested Namco Classic II, though.
-
Namco classic II is glitching on my N8 on 1.22. I dont think i will ever play that game, just wanted to report
Overall this is so much stable. Much more than the RC1 to RC7 of OS20
Thank you Krikzz

I tried out nesos-v1.23 on my N8 using my Sharp Twin Famicom. The menu issues that I saw in the previous beta's with error 51/62 are not as bad as before but still present when switching directories / selecting games sometimes. This problem does not exist on v1.16. And before someone goes knocking my SD cards, I am pretty confident when I say I doubt they are an issue. 1 of them is a SanDisk industrial 8gb SD card. The other is an off the self SanDisk 16GB sd card. Both cards work fine on 1.16 and I can fly through the menus and select games quickly without issue.
Issue's that I saw with StarTropics 1/2 look like they are fixed in this release as well.
Once I realized that the N8 (non-pro) is only supported up to 1.20, I then soon learned you can copy the 1.23 mappers and MAPROUT.bin and just use the 1.20 OS. Wonder how long you can do this for... Seem pretty stable still some occasional errors in menu.

Wrong, if the BIOS comes from here
http://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-n8/original-series/OS/
then it's for the old N8 and 1.23 is right there.
It is possible that on your console/N8 combination 1.23 has issues so a hybrid 1.20 + selected files from 1.23 is better for you, but in general it may not work that well for others.
-
If you didn't reformat or just replaced the files on the card, that might cause issues as well.
