EverDrive GBA / Re: New EZ Omega is better than X5?

Yeah definitely the X5.
Who doesn't love spending more money for less features, right?

We'll have to wait and see about the Mega SD.
I have pre-ordered it as it looks truly epic.

I just hope it doesn't have a laundry list of issues like the Super SD System 3 did.

Ah, it's probably because I'm not playing on a handheld that I haven't had that save issue.
It takes me a while to get my ass up and switch off. Lol

I haven't had any issues at all yet.
So far so good!

Well I just got an Omega on a whim because they are so cheap now,  and I have to say I am very surprised at how much I like it!
It may actually replace my X5, which was bought to replace my EZflash IV. Lol

Words and stuff.

That's some damn nice investigation skills, man.

That sounds like a dry solder joint.
The fact that it only works when you bend it makes me think a connection has failed somewhere.

EverDrive GBA / Re: Everdrive GBA X5 and battery?

Yeah that's odd.
Like you, I thought the battery was just used for the RTC. I thought saves were written straight to the SD card...

Hmmm

Is it possible to access the in game menu via some means other than clicking the cartridge?
If not, would such a thing be possible to add via a firmware update?

Update:

Got a copy of Fusion in. Popped it in and started a new file. Noticed the stuttering STILL. It's not the Everdrive. Pulled the GCHD out of the chain and used S-Video directly into my PVM. Same story.

Looks like its either my Gamecube, the Game Boy Player, or these games just have a little stuttering every now and then and I'm just OCD enough to notice it...

Oh man. That is weird. No idea what that could be then.

Hey, I appreciate that. I notice it the most on Metroid Zero Mission.

Ah, well that pretty much puts that to bed.
I played through both Zero Mission and Fusion like 3 weeks ago and there was no slowdown at all.  :(

'Natural' slowdown in GBA games is very rare. Far fewer games suffer with that than on machines like the SNES and Megadrive.

Do you have any original carts to test your player with?
Preferably a game that you know has the slowdown issue when you use the everdrive?
It's highly unlikely to be the player, but that's the last thing I can think to test before you send your everdrive back.

I do not. I am using GBIHF on a gameboy player through GCHD mk2 and an rgb scart cable into a PVM-2030. Maybe the occasional stutterer can be attributed to something in that chain?

I doubt it's your GB Player.
It may be your hacky software. Have you got the original Nintendo disc to try it with?
Failing that, it sounds like you might have a dodgy everdrive.

Just tested on gba player with official disc and slowdown is still there.

Well let's check first before we definitely blame your Everdrive.
What game did you play to check your slowdown issue.
I'll try it on my Wide-boy.

Some GBA games do have minor slowdown issues regardless of how you play them.

I remember Some flash solutions causing slowdown in some games back then. Some cart even regarded the fact it didn't had slowdowns as a feature. My M3 Perfect was one of them.

Yeah that was due to the cheap ass slow RAM that a lot of old carts had.
Some got around that issue by having the nonvolatile NOR area that you could flash a game to, which was a good deal faster.
The everdrives RAM is more than fast enough though. Unless it's faulty of course ;)

what exactly do you mean by "load but not start"? I'm having a similar issue

Select the game and choose "Select Only" instead of "Select And Start".
This will load the game into RAM but not actually start it.
