FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Re: Can't get Super Mario Kart or Pilotwings to work
« on: November 10, 2020, 10:59 AM »
I know they both use the DP-1 chip, neither of those games work. Super Mario Kart will load and have the Nintendo icon display then freeze. Pilotwings will load up, I can select a mission, but when I hit start to start the mission, the screen goes black. The music still plays but there is no picture. What am I missing?

All my ROMS are good, I've played them on multiple emulators to test.
you need have dsp files inside the sd2snes folder for them  to work

dsp1.bin (CRC32: 27124599)
dsp1b.bin (CRC32: 588279B4)
dsp2.bin (CRC32: F0221C90)
dsp3.bin (CRC32: E3B54E6A)
dsp4.bin (CRC32: CA09E176)
It's either DSP1 or 1B, not both, otherwise you black screen all of the games that use DSP-1.

It's not really an issue that Krikzz will care about, as this cart was meant for playing games and for homebrew development.

EverDrive N8 / Re: N8 (non-Pro) future support

Will the new mappers added to N8 Pro be added to the old N8 cartridge ?
Yes, just no bug fixes.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Re: Super Game Boy 2 (Beta)
« on: June 24, 2020, 10:26 PM »
I started compiling problematic games on twitter: https://twitter.com/nensondubois_/status/1274876697888817152
Space Invaders and 65816 code works as expected because it does access hardware the same was a real SGB/2 would.

Why MSU1? Why not modify games to take advantage of the N-SPC engine provided by the SGB/2 to access the internal SOUND A B library for effects in games? Why not use SOU_TRN and DATA_SND for custom Super Game Boy soundtracks? Now that this is possible on a large scale, why not access the unused OBJ_TRN mode (which I got working a few years ago) for SNES sprites in games? Or even up the ante and access other parts of the SNES functions that were never touched by original developers such as adding mode 7 or mosaic effects, etc in Game Boy games? the possibilites are now endless. Why do we need to jump to overkill with MSU1?
Can you list them in Google Docs? It's far easier to organize and other people can add to that list.

SD2SNES is good as a nuclear fusion reactor.

I'm not sure whether he intends on releasing anymore updates to the original N8, since the recent updates have been degrading the performance of the NES/Famicom during OS operation.

Was this something mentioned on Twitter?
Judging by the change log.

7
The FDS bios has been removed due to copyright reasons. Super Mario Bros. 2 (FDS) World 4-4 bug has been fixed only on the N8 pro cart.

I'm not sure whether he intends on releasing anymore updates to the original N8, since the recent updates have been degrading the performance of the NES/Famicom during OS operation.

Does the sd2snes auto patch for translation or do I need to manually patch ?
Manual.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Mapper for Bootleg and Pirate Fighting Games
« on: December 28, 2019, 06:28 AM »
Yeah, bump. Don't care. :)

Anyways, Mapper 83 is the Conysoft pirate mapper. More info here: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/INES_Mapper_083

The mapper obviously exists (I REALLY don't understand why he thinks these "not exist"!), as do the other 76 in white. Hopefully more of these will be implemented in future updates for the pro and original N8 carts. The pirate ones I'm looking forward to, are the rest of the Hummer Team/JY Company mappers (116, 121, 123, 208, 209) because at least they are actually decent for what they are worth compared to other bootleg games....

NESdev mapper grid: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/Mapper Best information for implementing these is here, along with the Nestopia-UE source code.

News / Re: EDN8 OS v20-BETA. Large update incoming
« on: June 15, 2019, 08:32 PM »
Don't know where to post this, so can a mod split this post into it's own topic, that'd be great.

https://twitter.com/krikzz/status/1139924862728855558

Now we know why he stopped working on this update for a while! He must have run out of FPGA space for the update and Mappers. 16MB of Rom space, bigger FPGA, and an I/O controller of sorts.

Off Topic / Re: EverDrive DS Possible Someday?

Not sure to trust this site... But if you are still looking for a Dstwo Plus to play around with (despite its battery drain issues)…

This site still claims to have new ones in stock.
https://www.r43ds.org/products/Supercard-DSTwo-Plus.html
Don't ever trust these assholes, they scammed $73.90 out of my ass, because I fell for their legitimate looking website and stupidly tried to order a DSTWO plus cart.

I guess I'll just have to smack'em with a chargeback from my bank.

The problem is something the size of stamp, might have build quality issues no matter what. Plastic is going to be super thin, no matter how you have it...

Even GBA X5's plastic isn't as good as Nintendo quality and my first case 'cracked' along the back, and Krikkz sent me a replacement, but even that one cracked in near the same place after a few months of use.... I don't drop my systems.... At least it works well...

I have a Everdrive GB (the version before the X series) I ordered directlyu from Krikkz and its case feels a bit flimsy, and the two halves don't fit together perfectly, it feels 'springy' (and that version doesn't have a 'save and/or reset button' built in like X series does)... It hasn't cracked though as far as I know... THe X7 I bought later doesn't seem to have any problems, and plastic seems to be pretty sturdy.

I've never had an issue with  my DSTWO + (knocking on wood), and I'm careful not to drop it.... and I know people with R4 style flashcarts which have never had problems and are still using them years after getting one.... So on one hand we can put it up to user's carefulness as well.
It's not the case that really needs super duper high quality. It's the electronics. The DSTWO 4 in 1 fell onto a hard surface and straight up died as It was still in the DSi. The system still works and everything, and the cart just.....doesn't now.

I guess all Nintendo DS games have build quality issues then, right?

NO way do you want a DS cart which sticks out a 'bit' …. DS cart is spring loaded so anybit sticking out would make it easy to accidently push it and dislodge it while in the in middle of a game. ESpecially on the later generation 3DSs which put the card slot on the bottom... Card slot on New 3DS for example, is much easier to accidently bump even with official games, you don't want to be having something sticking out that is all but assured of being bumped.
I wasn't being serious about DS games sticking out. My point, was that people decided to bitch and moan about something as trivial as the PCB sticking out, instead of offering actual constructive criticism.

I don't know if Krikzz can make a device as small as a DS cartridge, remember the Everdrive GBA :o
If the Chinese can do it, so can he! I'd rather have a cart of ACTUAL quality, and have the damn thing stick out a little, over cheaply made crap that breaks in about month or two.
