So I just ordered a SD2SNES deluxe edition (back ordered) from SAG on christmas along with a few goodies and once the order gets shipped, I should have enough tickets for the custom deluxe edition of the ED64 (if they still offer it) :). I was wondering what colors you guys would choose if you got said item? Im sporting a fire orange n64 atm so any suggestions as to what would look best with that would be much appreciated!

Has anyone seen this yet? Do you think it would be possible to use a Master Everdrive with said device?

Off Topic / Proud owner of a N64DD!

Thats right, I just bought one of these bad boys with almost every game and every piece of hardware (missing Doshin 2, the Golf game and the keyboard) ;D. Comes with a japanese N64 as well! Which leads me to my question...

This is my first true import console. I know that other contries use different power voltages, but I read on some random forum that you can use a US N64's power adapter to power a Jap N64 and not fry anything. Can anyone confirm this and/or point me to a step down converter that would work? Should be here at the end of the month!!!

Off Topic / CRT TV's for old consoles
« on: October 28, 2014, 04:53 AM »
Hello there :)!
I was looking at my local goodwill for a new CRT because i wanted a more authentic experience when playing on some of my old retro consoles. I have a old APEX from 2001 that I found outside my girlfriends house (someone threw it away so I cleaned it up and took it home) but it is mono and just wasnt enough (though I do agree that a Sega Genesis looks better on that than my LCD). I was looking for a Sony PVM for SCART (though I doubt ill find one at my local goodwill), and I spotted a Sony Trinatron KV-36XBR400 Wega for pretty cheap. Does anyone have any experience with these particular series of TV's? What CRT TV do you guys use for your consoles?

To explain, Bobo Mcloud and I are trying to get a hold of this cart and release the rom so it doesnt get stuck in collector's hands. This is a one in a lifetime oppurtunity to be able to contribute to the gaming scene. As for how this will be held...
-people willing to contribute should state how much they can throw down (in their currency, ex. USD, Euros, ect.)
-dontations will be collected ONLY if we win the cart
-donations will be made via paypal to Bobo's account (he is main contributer)
-cart obviously will go to highest contributer
-rom will be given to contributers BEFORE going public
-user names will be attributed to the release (you will be known as the "ones who made this possible")
Every dollar matters. We might be around $1340 short so if 27 people contributed $50, we could afford to get this. We have a little over 2 days left and I know this is a longshot (pun intended :D) but it is totally worth it.

Contributers:
Bobo Mcloud ($3000 USD)
Paulweeze ($400 USD)
Craigaaron (£100)
Mockylock ($60 USD)
Catastrophic ($50 USD)

Sorry for being a technical noob :D but...
http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=1583.90
It was recently discovered by Krikzz that Pokemon Stadium 2 runs out of space and glitches out due to using 128kbyte of the rom for saves. Through a hex editor, Cheaterdragon1 was able to discover that it overlaps 72kb to be precise. However, the ED64 V2 is able to use SRAM128kb (or 1Mbit) which is the exact size of Flash and SRAM would only use 32kb of the rom for saves, allowing there to be some space left and not overlap.
Does anybody know if...
1. It is possible to change how the rom saves the game (similar to the Donkey Kong SRAM fix)?
2. If SRAM can be used as a replacement for Flash?
3. How to do this and or where else should this be posted?

I dont care too much for this game, but id like to try to help boost the compatibility for V2 users, for idk when others or myself will have the funds for the V3 (that and id like others to enjoy the boosted compatibility if they decide to get a V2 due to funds). Btw, I forced the save type to SRAM128 for s's and g's but the pictures were still missing :-[.

Can anyone do me a solid and post this at Assembler or ask Zoinkity? Think he would know how to, from my impression of reading this thread http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?33987-The-Everdrive-64-Game-Fix-Thread/page2

Off Topic / Projects (Gaming and Non-Gaming) Current or not Current
« on: August 08, 2014, 02:05 AM »
Hi all :)!

I figured with such a diverse forum of intelligent gamers and programmers from around the world, to noobs who just know how to play a game :D...

Wouldn't be cool to see and or hear of projects that others are working on (gaming and non-gaming)? I would love to hear from you guys!

My semi-current noobish project is taking a Gyromite famicom adapter pcb and sticking it into a 3rd party case (since I screwed up making one out of the Gyromite case :-[). I had to cut some of the bottom plastic (to fit the cic chip correctly) and sand down some of the plastic to fit in it properly (i currently dont have access to a dremel so I did a ghetto job with sandpaper :D). Now i can play famicom multicarts and pirates on a NES without a cic chip disabled and without getting the pcb stuck in the console (my nes cic chip currently is disabled but my dad's is not).

I've also in the past modified a Super Gameboy to fit a Game Genie (cause I had one laying around, I use the Super Gameboy 2 for straight up playing) but that is now kinda obsolete because of the EDGB having Game Genie support, and cut the plastic in the SNES to play Jap imports. Once again, noobish projects but any project (gaming or non-gaming) is welcome to post here! No one will judge you (I hope ;D).

Off Topic / Where to find a Proto?
« on: July 28, 2014, 07:33 AM »
The title says it all! If you guys know of links to current protos for sale, post here. As for me...

The guy who sold the No Mercy proto that we lost just plesantly suprised me with some new ones. http://www.ebay.com/sch/93tomegatherion/m.html?item=171392374669&hash=item27e7c8178d&pt=Video_Games_Games&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Anyone looking for nes ones should go to nintenodage https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aof5kdjyHmF-dGgyMUFxZHpud0k2SXY4cmh6bkdGQXc#gid=0

Unreleased in US version of Whirlo for SNES

Dyer60 of Assembler fame has a few 32x ones, one of them being the unreleased x-men, but unsure if it is the same exact one that is dumped already
http://www.ebay.com/sch/dyer60/m.html?item=111430860037&hash=item19f1cbfd05&pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Ebay is cluttered with prototypes, but a lot of them are already dumped or nothing special (unless you want just the hardware and not software) or not worth the price.

Ill will update this thread with others i see, but post here if you see any ;).

So with about one day left on the bidding of the No Mercy prototype... http://www.ebay.com/itm/171392374669

I wanted to start a thread on potentially starting a new release team. Krikzz said himself that he would be interested in this proto and would dump it if he got it, and he has the tools to do so http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=1954.0

But it has reached over $400 and might skyrocket last minute. I really want to see this proto get into worthy hands (and a community dump instead of dumping it on a hard drive that is potential to crash, let alone no one able to see or play it), but we cant let Krikzz take a huge hit if it does, let alone it would be discouraging to even bid if it gets much higher.

So, I will (next week) guarantee that I will throw at least $50 down for Krikzz to get this (if he does). If things work out well (have not worked in a bit cause of my brothers wedding in North Carolina) I will throw more down. Anybody who wants to help out preserve this piece of history and be recoginized as a contributer to (what im calling Team Biokrikzz), please post here. Even if he has to put the initial funds down, we would be able to help him recover his funds.

I figured if it does get dumped, hosting the rom release here would get more attention to Krikzz's site as well. It could be a win-win situation!

Were potential contributers that deserve credit even without us getting it, for they showed community support...
Paulweeze: at least $50
Toshineon: $10

Off Topic / Prototopia (and other proto links)
« on: July 10, 2014, 08:43 PM »
Devhackr at Assemblergames has now started a mediafire site called Prototopia in which most proto releases for all systems are now easily accessible. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/8r4xe46lt1exu//Prototopia

And here are some other links to currently released prototype threads http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?49482-Prototype-Releases-of-2014-Thread
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?43975-Prototype-Releases-of-2013-Thread (last years thread)

Thanks to their efforts for collecting and organizing prototype releases current or old so we dont have to search the web endlessly. On a side note, it looks like N64dd dumping has made progress due to OzOne and Jimmy130 has gotten ahold of a SM64 copy for the N64dd http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?52203-Super-Mario-64-Disk-version-found
Hopefully this leads towards N64dd emulation as well!

EverDrive GG / SG 1000 to Master System patch?
« on: July 05, 2014, 02:39 AM »
Does one exist? I noticed that SG 1000 games that uses the legacy mode are just purple and black. Reason why I ask is because a multicart that i have can play super boy 2 in proper color but the EDGG cant so i wondered if they had to port the video mode to sms. If not, i guess im not missing out on much :D.

EverDrive GG / It's Here!
« on: July 04, 2014, 06:56 AM »
I finally recieved my fourth Everdrive (Game Gear), second from Retrogate (EDGB being first), after a speedy less than 2 weeks from Ukraine to US ;D. I was eager to recieve this so i cut a sd and usb slot out from a cheap donor cart before even knowing the specs (might need to get me a label though) :D. Now im playing DRX's Game Gear Prototypes on real hardware and going to enjoy taking Master System games on the go as well. Thanks Krikzz for another kick ass device!
PS, the other cart in the pic is a 73 in 1 multicart, my go to cart before recieving the Everdrive. And that horrific magnifying glass on the Game Gear is a Super Wide Gear.

This is technically old news, but the creator of the Wolfenstein 3D Genesis port has now completed episode 1, with active AI!

Kudos to gasega68k and ID for such a kick ass game!
