I can explain why returning to the save mutes the music and it's actually quite normal than you think:

The X7 wasn't designed to save certain data from the Zilog Z80 like (Master System games) which all use the Z80.

Mega Drive/Genesis games that use Z80 drivers don't save music on the Mega EverDrive X7 when performing a save-state, only 68K drivers have their music saved on the X7 and Golden Axe 1 uses a Z80 driver, GAII & III however use 68000 ones.

The best way around this issue is to learn when and where are the best places to record a save-state, which is usually right before the next level starts, that way when the music is muted when you return to it will only be for a really short time, like in the Sonic games where the best place to make a save-state is always on the ''Sonic Got Through'' or ''Sonic Has Passed'' screens with the end of level sign post. It's not really a good spot to save right in the middle of a level or at the beginning for this reason of music being muted with only sound effects heard.

The other way around this is to go to the sound test and play the Death-Adder theme music and immediately bring up the in-game menu and load your state and it should continue playing whatever music you were playing in the sound test on the Death Adder boss.

As to why it crashes when you lose a life and continue playing is beyond me? That actually sounds quite serious but it could be a side-effect caused by the Mega Key being left on, try turning this off and only use it when you really have to.

Your Game Genie codes might be duds, try matching them with codes from other sites for cross-reference. Hope I helped explain a few things.

Well that sucks. The whole point of owning a Pro to me is to use the save-state feature so you don't have to sit through a game in one sitting that may take several hours.

Sounds like you got a dudd! Either your Pro, Mega SG or Mega SG firmware is broken.

Why don't you try Mega SG firmware 4.6? 4.6 is better than 4.7 4.7 has an issue with SMS games with the zero lag zero delay option, every few seconds there is a judder in the frame rate when running SMS games on 4.7 in zero delay zero lag buffer option, 4.6 doesn't have this issue and runs perfectly smooth and just maybe it might run sms games for you.

It's worth a try, nothing to lose.

Really? Does the in-game menu not work when playing a Mega-CD/Sega-CD game through the Pro?

I know everybody is concentrating on the Mega EverDrive Pro and all the issues surrounding that at the moment but my issue is more about finding working PAR or Game Genie codes for PAL versions of games where USA versions also exist.

Can anyone out there help with this one game, all I can ever find is the Genesis NTSC Game Genie cheats for this game but they don't work with the PAL ROM. Forget ''Mazin Saga - Mutant Fighter'' (U) we need working invincible and infinite lives codes for the PAL (Europe) ROM. Mazin Wars.

It's getting really annoying when the community only focuses on the American versions of games, not everyone around the world has a Genesis, as you would suspect, i'm in a PAL region using 50Hz I have a PAL collection of games and everytime I go to look up cheats for Mega Drive/Genesis games unless they're (W) world ROMS or they're from PAL exclusive releases the codes seem to be only for the Genesis NTSC ROMS which are not the same as the PAL versions.

I'm not angry at anybody personally about this, just very frustrated with the situation on how we're all expected to just throw out our PAL games and start all over again with NTSC 60Hz ones. That's not how the world works, we need to start accepting all regions and not leaving out certain ones for the garbage.

By the way the same Game Genie codes for ''Mazin Saga - Mutant Fighter'' (U) do not work with ''Mazin Wars (E)

These codes do not work with the PAL ROM only the Genesis NTSC ROM.

Maybe for you it's sorted but other people are still struggling with this one game and i'm one of them. I'm having great trouble trying to get this sorted. It's not fixed and I don't care if this topic is more than 6 years old I can't get Super Thunderblade Game Genie cheats and the RAW equivelant ''Pro Action Replay'' codes to work with this game, I get either a black screen or a red screen when those cheats are put into the game, my PC won't let me run this uCON64 because my firewall thinks it's not safe, besides that it wasn't explained really well, what does it have to be patched with and where exactly does it have to be patched?

Would be far easier if someone could just post the working ROM with all these patches in it for the rest of the community instead of having to jump through hoops over and over trying to work out this stuff.

I can save states of Master System games on the Mega SG.

Someone said that it couldn't save state when using the Analogue Mega SG and all single chip systems, it might have been Krikkz himself who said this in one of his videos on youtube.

The only thing I dislike about the Pro is that it can't save state for Master System games when using the Analogue Mega SG. Why does it have to be an original Mega Drive or Genesis in order to do this?

I'm an owner of a Mega EverDrive X7 and I play everything in PAL as i'm a PAL 50Hz gamer and i'm proud of the fact that I ignore NTSC 60Hz, it's just not my preference for retro video games and I can assure you save states work on the X7 just fine on an unmodified PAL SEGA Mega Drive model 1 and Analogue Mega SG.

All PAL games running in 50Hz are compatible with save states, honestly the made up rumours you guys come out with is hilarious! Like ''Ohh it's 50Hz so it'll wreck my X7'' or ''PAL is not supported by the Mega EverDrive X7'' The cart is designed to fully support PAL and NTSC 50/60Hz, if there is an error it's usually down to the individual game you're trying to save on or your console is broken or unsupported if it's modded.

Zool

I know for a fact that these games listed above do not work properly with a Mega Everdrive X7, there is probably more out there but these are the one's I know about.

Games that use 68k sound drivers save state with the music, games that use Zilog Z80 sound drivers do not save state with the music. And the X7 does support save states, it's jerky because it's something the Mega Drive/Genesis was never designed to do and Krikzz is not responsible for this, you're lucky you can save state at all. In the old days, games were designed to be played in one sitting not like today where games go on forever without an ending.

If you're smart enough to learn when and where to use a state you can avoid the muted music issue.

For example in a Sonic game, save state right at the end of a completed level ''Sonic Got Through Act 2'' when the continue icon is flashing, that way when you load a state next play the music will kick in straight away for the next zone or act. This practise should be applied on all games. Another thing you can do is go to the sound test and play the track from the level you've save stated and then load that state then and there and the music will continue playing through your save.

Run a diagnostic test in the EverDrive X7 menu to see if the issue is highlighted or not? Maybe that might give you a hint where the problem lies.

I forgot to add Y's III, Megaman The Wily Wars and Wonderboy In Monster World to that list of glitched graphic games when trying to save state on the X7. Just remembered them now my bad..

4. Super Street Fighter II (I know it's because it's a large ROM)

I can confirm the patch works. I just tried the game with a password that unlocks all the levels in the game. I tried the password with both ROMS, the SRAM disabler patch ROM and the other without, only the SRAM disabler ROM worked while the non- SRAM disabler patch ROM gave me a creepy message about telling me to buy a real copy of the game just to see all the levels.

Someone on romhacking.net made an SRAM disabler fix patch for this game a few years ago, so downloading and patching the patch is your best answer with this game. The patch is in XDelta format, just patch it to the ROM and it should behave just like an original cartridge.

I downloaded and patched it on my Mega EverDrive X 7, it still creates a save file but I think the game doesn't bother checking the SRAM and continues like an original cartridge. I don't know for sure as I haven't really played this game and don't care enough for it to play to the end of level 5 but if you download the patch yourself maybe you can verify since you're the one that raised the issue. Sorry but it's a frustrating game that I have little patience for, I might have to use Game Genie cheats for this one.
