If you're in the UK, Retro Gaming Cables have good quality stuff like the RAD2X and the upcoming S-video SNES cable they're working on which should work on charcoal N64's.

As for HDMI mods, there's this recent one which looks impressive. New stock should be arriving in early summer.

What revision board is it? From my understanding, some boards don't get along with the Pro. I wonder if your MD is a Japanese one which is poorly modded for 50hz and it's causing a side-effect with the Pro.* If I were you, I would try to restore it back to 60hz to see if that fixes it. The PRO could also be defective. Here's some suggestions:
  • Try another PSU
  • Check Diagnostics if possible
  • Try another MD

*Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The problem is the OSSC. While it's faster to interlace/progressive switching then the XRGB-Mini, it's not instant.

The upcoming RetroTink-5x Pro will have instant switching. It can also upscale up to 1440p. It's not out yet but check Twitter for development progress.

Maybe the OSSC Pro might fix the switching. PixelFX, the guys behind N64Digital is also releasing a new upscaler sometime later this year or the next.

But don't get me wrong, the OSSC is still a great upscaler particularly with connecting retro consoles/arcade PCB's to PC CRT monitors.

If you're trying to play US NTSC games, it's recommended to use a US or Japanese N64 as playing them on a Australian/European PAL N64 may cause issues.

In the meantime, use PAL ROMs only on a PAL N64.

Thank you so much for all that you have said!!! I'm confused as to what the UltraCIC II is although I have heard of it from videos, and when you say stuff about the x7 OS being compatible with the V2.5 & V3 Everdrives/2.12 OS improvements and small text menu information, ALL of that does confuse me but PLEASE don't judge me for that? Again I'm not really knowledgeable about this type of stuff, but I'm really wanting to play my N64 again and start having fun with VPW2 mainly and getting to WWF No Mercy eventually.
Don't worry. In the meantime, try the new 3.05 on your V3 and see how that goes.

I texted my friend recently & he actually advised me that IF I do get the new EverDrive that I want, by still having my current V3 EverDrive, he said I could just:

1) Move the entire file of VPW2 that has the English Translation Pack to my Laptop from my V3 EverDrive's SD-Card
2) Place my new SD-Card of the V7 IF I ever get one, to my Laptop
3) On my Laptop, that whole entire folder of VPW2 that has the English Translation Pack because my friend helped me get that around 2018, move that into my NEW V7 card that would obviously come with my eventual new EverDrive V7 if I ever decide to get that.
I don't quite understand #3. You don't need to put the .RUP patch file in the SD card, the ROM needs to be patched on your laptop. The Everdrive V3 & x7 only supports IPS & APS on-the-fly patching, not RUP files. Unless you store patch files in the SD card for storage purposes, which I don't personally do but you do you.

Would all of that work as well, this way I shouldn't and wouldn't have to download the ROM again & get the English Translation Pack from scratch?
If you follow my instruction of patching, it won't overwrite the original ROM, the patched ROM will save as a new copy and the original ROM will stay intact.

I do feel better knowing the V3 is STILL AN AMAZING EVERDRIVE to keep & just because V7 is out and is the newest one, doesn't mean I should jump ship to that immediately! From what I have learned about the V3 EverDrive, it's pretty much a "Limited-Edition" product so it makes me cherish it more!!! I would LOVE to own an EverDrive product that has a new warranty though, in the event something drastically & surprisingly happened to my current EverDrive & once it breaks I cannot do anything about it, so that was why the V7 was also enticing to me (as Lame as it sounds LOL) but typically, I take GREAT CARE of my electronics so!!!
Oh yeah, the V3 still holds up to this day.

What does the Diagnostics say? Make sure you're not playing a bad dump of Paper Mario.

I use a PNY 32GB and a Sandisk Extreme 16GB, both SDHC & Class 10, and never had an issue like yours.

You could try a Sandisk Ultra, they're pretty darn good.

Hey there. Asking for ROMS is not, and should not, be allowed here.

Speaking from a v3 owner, I don't see the need to upgrade unless it broke.

The only real benefit to use the x7 if:

A) you have PAL & NTSC consoles and can't be bothered to flick the region switch. The x7 auto-detects the console's region.
B) you have the v2.0/2.5 and want to upgrade.
C) your v3 is not equipped with UltraCIC II and is only limited to one region.
D) your UltraCIC II V3 broke down/got destroyed.

The v3.0 with UltraCIC II can do what the x7 can, just that the parts for making v3.0 carts have been discontinued.

As for the English translation of VPW2, there's no difference whenever it's on v3 or x7. It'll play the same.

If you already have a clean Japanese VPW2 ROM, go to, place the rom in "rom file" then place the .rup file in "patch file" then click "Apply patch". This will give you the patched rom back. Then drag the patched ROM into the SD card.

I may add that the x7 OS is now compatible with v2.5 & V3 Everdrives so you're not really missing out. Also do check out jonesalmighty's fork of the 2.12 OS with extra improvements such as a 240p small text menu.

What about this cartridge cleaner? That could work.

No point since it's just the Japanese Shindou Edition with real time patching basically.

My two cents:

Translating simple, yet fun multiplayer games should probably get priority. Multiplayer is such a huge component of the N64 experience and there are a number of great & untranslated games that get little or no love. Additionally, because of the multiplayer component, any 2-4 player games that are translated will probably gain more exposure, have more replayability and reach a wider audience/player pool.

My suggestions:

Puyo Puyo Sun 64
Puyo Puyo 4
Ucchannanchan no Honou no Challenge: Denryuu IraIra Bou (Irritating Stick)
Ganbare Goemon: Mononoke Sugoroku
Getter Love!!

Ganbare Goemon & Getter Love would probably be the hardest of the two to translate/hack, but they are both very fun games. The other ones listed contain very little japanese and would be fairly easy/quick to translate.

I agree. +1 for Ucchannanchan no Honou no Challenge. A puzzle game I really like made by Yukes's of all people and published by Hudson.
