EverDrive GBA / Re: Frame rate drops. SD card speed issues?
« on: June 08, 2019, 08:29 PM »
Hey, I appreciate that. I notice it the most on Metroid Zero Mission.

Ah, well that pretty much puts that to bed.
I played through both Zero Mission and Fusion like 3 weeks ago and there was no slowdown at all.  :(

'Natural' slowdown in GBA games is very rare. Far fewer games suffer with that than on machines like the SNES and Megadrive.

Do you have any original carts to test your player with?
Preferably a game that you know has the slowdown issue when you use the everdrive?
It's highly unlikely to be the player, but that's the last thing I can think to test before you send your everdrive back.

I do not. I am using GBIHF on a gameboy player through GCHD mk2 and an rgb scart cable into a PVM-2030. Maybe the occasional stutterer can be attributed to something in that chain?

I doubt it's your GB Player.
It may be your hacky software. Have you got the original Nintendo disc to try it with?
Failing that, it sounds like you might have a dodgy everdrive.

Just tested on gba player with official disc and slowdown is still there.

Well let's check first before we definitely blame your Everdrive.
What game did you play to check your slowdown issue.
I'll try it on my Wide-boy.

Some GBA games do have minor slowdown issues regardless of how you play them.

I remember Some flash solutions causing slowdown in some games back then. Some cart even regarded the fact it didn't had slowdowns as a feature. My M3 Perfect was one of them.

Yeah that was due to the cheap ass slow RAM that a lot of old carts had.
Some got around that issue by having the nonvolatile NOR area that you could flash a game to, which was a good deal faster.
The everdrives RAM is more than fast enough though. Unless it's faulty of course ;)

EverDrive GBA / Re: Everdrive GBA X5 Save Problem
« on: June 08, 2019, 05:53 PM »
what exactly do you mean by "load but not start"? I'm having a similar issue

Select the game and choose "Select Only" instead of "Select And Start".
This will load the game into RAM but not actually start it.

That sounds more likely.
The SD card will have nothing to do with in game slowdown. The Everdrive doesn't stream data from it.
Once the game is loaded, the SD card is only used when save data is created.

A unlicensed 3rd party accessory at that.

I mean that Krikzz historically doesn't show his Nintendo carts much love after their initial release.

I suppose it's a Nintendo accessory as well...

Yeah I know you can patch the ROMs on your PC, but who wants to piss about like that every time?
Is there any chance of Gameshark code support being added, like many other Everdrives have, Krikzz?

NEVER happening

Just like it didn't happen with the other Everdrives?

Speaking of Gameboy Player... how well does it run pre-installed emulators such as Goomba and PocketNES if at all possible PCEAdvance though there is still no confirmation how the device can run RAW PCE games without the pre-made ones in Smokemonsters latest pack.

It'll run them exactly the same as a GBA.
It IS a GBA in a box.
My Wideboy runs them exactly the same as the handhelds.

Ah neat but how do RAW PCE games work on the GBA X5 not counting the premade ones that smokemonster combined into a multiple game file?

No idea bud, sorry.
I use my PCE for that :-)

Well if my memory serves me right on the issue that I was unable to figure out. PCE (Or more importantly TG16) games needed modifing with a device using a decrypting method with PCEToy32_10 to get the games to work so any source would not be any use... this also means excluding the pre-made emulator set that are TG-16 roms converted to GBA are the only ones that I could get to work.

The Super Card SD managed to run PCE games but was unable to run TG16 game while the Everdrive GBA can run both but only the pre-added ones that are in a list of games, no single vanilla PCE rom works on it sadly... so if you copy and paste a PCE rom into the GBA Everdrive and try to run it all you would get is the Gameboy logo with no Nintendo below which boots it up.

I would be awesome if the app worked still and I could make them for myself but as it no longer runs on later generation computers this seems impossible now forever.

Yeah that does sound a bit hopeless unless someone updates the tools.
Gotta love it when Windows renders useful stuff useless.

EverDrive GBA / Re: Problem with everdrive gba
« on: April 28, 2019, 12:40 AM »
Hello. I bought everdrives. When I copy files containing roms gba they appear but more in alphabetical order in the everdrive gba on the gamecube. While when I look at the files in their folder they appear in alphabetical order. There may be a problem with the copy being made in a disparate way.
Can you give some information?
I have another problem: when i play, with the minish cap, screen block and its impossible to save the party.
Thanks.

Are you using the nointro ROM set?
I would recommend it.
I am using nointro roms and Minish Cap works fine.

Yeah this is always a pain in the ass with everdrives.
They list the ROMs in the order they were copied, not alphabetical order.

How I fix this is to reformat my card, make sure that all of my roms on pc are arranged by name.
Select them all (ctrl-a), right click on the top ROM and copy, then paste to your card/folder.

There are apparently tools for fat sorting as well, but doing the above steps works fine for me.
