EverDrive N8 / Re: Everdrive FDS BIOS, Broken Features?
« on: September 25, 2020, 06:49 PM »
N8 PRO can load bios from file, so you can try it with original bios. Store bios to the EDN8/disksys.rom and everdrive will use it

EverDrive N8 / Re: Everdrive N8 Pro NSF MMC5 Problem
« on: September 25, 2020, 06:27 PM »
Please read specification carefully, MMC5 audio is not supported for NSF: Built-in NSF player with expansion chips support (VRC6, VRC7, Sunsoft-5b, Namco-163)
All audio cores not fits in fpga at same time

N8 PRO has jumper for wiring expansion audio at EXP9 pin.

Have you tried adding 'DD=31' to you 'save_db.txt' file as outlined in the readme of the new OS? I have attempted to make it clear here: https://github.com/krikzz/ED64/blob/master/docs/rom_config_database.md

What about pre-RTC Everdrive 64s? Should 'DD=31      All 64DD games SRAM+RTC' or at least 'DD=3      All 64DD games SRAM' be added to the save_db.txt file?

And if entries to the save_db.txt file that only apply to certain Everdrive 64 versions are included in the save_db.txt file on a different ED64 (i.e. if they are included in the contents of the first post in this thread, and are used by people with different ED64s) then will the inapplicable (to the ED64 currently being used) lines simply be ignored by the OS software?

Old and new save_db formats is cross compatible. Old OS will ignore second number, new OS always will assume 0 if there is no second number. For pre-rtc everdrives rtc setting just have no effect. You can check Rom Info menu to make sure that settings was applied to certain file.

No, resetting doesn’t work. I can save progress in the cups and the names of custom tracks and courses but if I try to load them I get an error message saying “file corrupted”. The ALT64 OS had a custom save to ROM+SRAM but that OS doesn’t work on X7.
That's honestly really weird... I went and used one of my spare SD cards to test out the new firmware update v3.05 to see what's going on. Made a simple custom course within F-Zero X Expansion Kit as a means to test out 64DD Cartridge Port saving on there. Weirdly enough, resetting the console doesn't work for me either on the X7 v3.05 OS, and I'm using a V3. Seems like another issue that Krikzz needs to patch up in a future firmware release, as the earlier official v2.13 OS allowed you to save stuff made within 64DD Cartridge Ports.

Hm, weird. I tested disk saves using mario paint and it worked fine.

Edit:
I just tried Fzero and seem it worked fine. I created course, reset the system, then back to the game and created course was here. After power cycle course still was there.
ROM CRC HI: C6E39C0A
ROM Name: NUD-EFZE-USA_2.n64
Tested on ED64-X7, OS v3.05.
I did not made any changes in save_db

Edit2:
I just realized that 64dd disk saves can not be handled on v2x/v3x using OS v3.xx because i forced to reconfigure fpga at each boot for legacy hardware, but 64dd save table get lost after fpga reconfig. I should find some way to make it work without fpga reconfig

EverDrive 64 / Re: EVERDRIVE64 Updated & Lost All Menu Features?
« on: September 25, 2020, 04:37 PM »
In new menu you can manipulate with such settings like cheats right from File Menu, also there is no need to select another game to backup your saves, so things like "Select only" Just lost the sense

1. have no ideas why japanese bioses does not work. As for megakey you can switch it off, ot works only with original systems.
2. likely some dirt on contacts.
3. plug your 32x and power supply, just like for any regular 32x games

Mega EverDrive / Re: MEP - 4.04 - Audio pops on opening of Popful mail
« on: September 20, 2020, 01:20 AM »
Yep, the CD fixes works.

BUT: The new firmware 4.05 seems to break the in-game menu somehow. When i go into the menu, after started a game Rom, and want to return to the game (or exit) then the machine freezes. With a green screen and static noise. Switching back to firmware v4.04 and everything works fine.

Weird, i can't reproduce that problem. Make sure you updated all files. I can see exactly same behavior if MEGA\mappers\00.rbf wasn't updated.

I am confirming this is fixed in 4.05.  Thanks Krikzz

Eke's Genesis-Plus-GX bugfix log helped a lot with Popful Mail. He fixed similar bug and it make me look closer on mcd timer. As it often happens with mcd, problem was related to the undocumented details of timer behavior.

Simply system seek decimal numbers in the file name and last of found numbers will be recognized as disk number.
As for pal games on ntsc systems or visa versa: you need actual 60hz for ntsc games or 50hz for pal, just an region changing mod is not enough (megakey can change regions without any mods, but not actual frame rate). CD games is pretty sensitive to timings and lot of them will not work properly on different region. I don't know how dfo mods dealing with auto region switching, so at the moment i can't say something about this stuff.  By the way, there exists one interesting solution which allow to switch console region, frame rate and even overclock the cpu, and this all working via gui menu called from controller using hot-key combo. It called MEGASWITCH: https://youtu.be/DOXWpRxZNPs
Hi Krikzz, I have a Pal Asia (Japanese plate with capacitance) with switchless (it unlocks the real 60hzs in that model), and it does not matter what region I put, both in Pal, as in the USA and Japan, there are games that music plays  It slows down and does not make a good reading, if at that moment, it pauses, it fixes itself, but if you can't pause and it loads, the game most likely crashes, I already have videos prepared to advertise a product of  $ 200 that you are selling, and it does not work correctly, what's more, you stop commenting on this topic, as well as the jerks of the intro of the popuf mail, why don't you know how to fix it, at least for now, yes, you are charging  while these failures continue.

I tried Japanese final fight with NTSC console and can't see any problems. As far as there is no mass reports about such problems it looks more like some problem on your side, may be bad cd images or something wrong with bios files. As for Popful Mail - problem already solved and fix will be included in next os release.
Unfortunately i don't have any ideas how we can solve your problem, so it seems like the best solution in this situation just return your cartridge.

This has been a while with no updates and no proposed fixes.  Since I have only been able to confirm that this is happening to every user I have talked to, can anyone show me the opposite? Is anyone able play this opening without the audio drops?  And if you can what is your set up?

I just returned from working over ed64 update. It is not something related to sd cards or whatever else, i looking on this problem and i have the same behavior.
