Mega EverDrive / Re: Wonder Boy in Monster World doesn't save (ED X7)
« on: February 16, 2017, 05:50 AM »
Wonder Boy in Monster World saves fine for me, but most ROMs for MM Wily Wars didn't save (though I now have one that does save). The original NBA Jam saves for me (also EEPROM like Wonder Boy and some ROMs of Wily Wars), but it was reported as not working by other posters. I wish Krikzz would give an update on EEPROM support and why even some SRAM ROMs (including one of the JP Rockman Megaworld ROMs) of Wily Wars don't save.

One thing I noticed is that the latest stable firmware for AVS doesn't have the artifacting issue, but the beta firmware does.

Micro Machines TT 96 doesn't use SRAM, it uses EEPROM. Some EEPROM games like the original NBA Jam (not TE) and Wonder Boy in Monster World save on X7, but MMTT96 doesn't. I doubt the battery is the issue. I recommed trying Sonic 3 (not SRAM, but saves fine), one of the Shining games, or Phantasy Star II to test.

Well, Atari did make quite a few NES games (as Tengen), so there's that.

It's a bit more complicated than Tengen being Atari, though. After the crash, Atari Inc. split into two separate companies, Atari Games and Atari Corp. Atari's arcade division became Atari Games and computer/home division became Atari Corp. Tengen is the home division of Atari Games. Tengen/Atari Games became Time Warner Interactive and were later absorbed into Midway before Midway went bankrupt. As far as Atari games go, there is a port of Millipede for NES.

EverDrive N8 / Re: VS. T.K.O. Boxing Garbled graphics
« on: January 01, 2017, 07:24 AM »
As far as I know, the problem is with the patch itself and the graphics even show up garbled on some emulators. Might be better off trying either Family Boxing or Ring King.

If the X3 still has Game Genie support, GG codes can be used to change the region of some games. Here is a list of some.

There's also Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which has a code to switch to the Daimakaimura version without Game Genie or a region switch. The code is:

Enter the Options menu. Choose ''26'' for the music and ''56'' for sound selections, then hold Down/Left + A + B + C + Start.

Did you set the region before or after the ROM was selected? I found out that I had to load the game into memory first before changing the region on the game.

Vs. Castlevania works fine for me (credits insert with select and start starts the game), but I noticed that the pre-patched ROM in the smokemonster set doesn't work right (incorrect mapper and blank screen by default. Glitchy scrolling when set to the correct mapper). Thankfully, the patch on the website works fine. Maybe the wrong ROM was patched?

Vs. Pinball, Vs. Duck Hunt (on AV Famicom using the JP Nintendo revolver in the expansion port), Vs. Ice Climber, Vs. Goonies, and Vs. Excitebike work fine for me (though the buttons used to start the games vary). I did noticed that the Vs. Duck Hunt patch on romhacking.net is an outdated version. The latest is 2.1, which is the Duck Hunt link above 1.61 at nes.goondocks.se.

No, I wasn't referring to that Space Invasion. I was referring to the GBC game. I tried the PD version on Everdrive and it works.

How does the everdrive handle where to expect the light gun.

That's not handled by software. It has to do with how the ports are wired. On the NES port 2 is wired for the light gun and on the FC, the expansion port is wired for the light gun. It is possible to wire port 2 on an AV Famicom for a light gun. Light gun games from an Everdrive N8 works just like a real cart. Gun needs to be in port 2 on NES and in the expansion port on a Famicom, regardless of game.

Over a month has passed and still no information on the Wily Wars Mega Everdrive saving issue. So far, I have just been told to do what I already have been doing, despite mentioning that I have tried everything...

Also, wasn't the Mega Everdrive V2/X7 released only a year ago? Telling from other posts, the problem seems specific to the V2/X7 and I doubt that V2/X7 was used to play it a few years ago. Krikzz, do you have any information on why Wily Wars isn't saving on V2/X7 and what could be done to fix this?

Mine works fine. Don't remember what I did, it worked first time a few years ago when I did it. Just fiddle around to get it to work.

I tried editing the header and pretty much every ROM and still couldn't get it to work. A few years ago is a long time and there have been many updates since then (I just got mine a couple months ago). I wouldn't be asking if I didn't try everything. From other posts, it's clear I'm not the only one having this issue, and I want to know how to get the saves in Wily Wars working. So far, I have just been told to do what I have already been doing and it's not working.

It's also worth mentioning that the freeware version of Space Invasion works on Everdrive GB.

Still no word on this even though I sent a PM to Krikzz over a month ago. I was hoping to hear more on this issue.
