Mega EverDrive / Re: Mega Everdrive X3 - Regions
« on: November 02, 2016, 09:37 PM »
This is so sad  :'(

I just received my X3 after lot's of waiting ... and now it turns out I can't play Streets of Rage 2 & Zombies Ate My Neighbors because I could only find USA roms

 :'( :'(

If I remember correctly, the JP Bare Knuckle II ROM also has the EU version of SoR II on it. Zombies Ate My Neighbors is called Zombies in Europe.

I have the Mega Everdrive v2/X7 and none of the roms save with patches, save states, or pressing reset.

Where did you buy the x7 from? What source are you using for ROMs? What troubleshooting have you done already? Have you tried using a different ROM source? A different SD card? Is the OS updated?

I got mine from Stone Age Gamer, so it's definitely the real deal. I have tried ROMs from the Goodset, No Intro, and the smokemonster set. On a Sandisk SD card. No problems with other games that save. OS is updated to the latest, but the issue is the same on 2.01, as well. Diagnostics passed positive as well.

I got the same thing at first, but after deleting the EDFC folder and putting it back a few times, I finally got OS 14 working. This was both on an AVS and AV Famicom.

Also, I don't know that any everdrive has that function.

Everdrive GB sends the game to flash memory and will boot the current game on cart when there is no SD card in the cart. There are some disadvantages to this since it can take awhile for larger games to be written to the cart and flash memory has a write limit (100,000 writes, which can take over 29 years to reach).

From all the threads I see, Mega Man Wily Wars used to work with older models of Everdrives, but no longer work with saves or even save states. Could Krikzz work on a firmware to address this issue?

I have an X3 and MMWW saves properly for me, just need to remember to reset after saving.

SRAM works a bit differently on the X3, though. On the Mega Everdrive v2, no matter which Wily Wars ROM used, it doesn't save on reset with menu on or off.

Would an option to choose be possible like with Everdrive GBA? Everdrive seems to have a hard time identifying Rockman: Megaworld and Mega Man the Wily Wars (some seem to have gotten it working, but I couldn't even get the romhacking.net patch to save using the Mega Everdrive V2/X7, even using the prepatched one from GoodGen and the smokemonster set. I even made sure I used the correct Europe ROM from No Intro when I used the ips patch).

EverDrive N8 / Re: Working ROM of Power Blade?
« on: October 24, 2016, 08:56 AM »
Power Blade 1 and 2 work, but some ROMS don't have the correct header information. I recommend looking up the smokemonster set since many of those were fixed. iNES header checker is a bit outdated (lists mapper 206 as an incorrect mapper), but was great help in getting some games working. Nestopia is also recommended for editing headers. There is also another game related to Power Blade, Power Blazer, which was previewed in NP before it was heavily altered into Power Blade.

Return to menu with soft reset would also cause problems for Link's Awakening since that's how its save menu is brought up.

Any chance of anyone uploading the September 6th mapper to compare? I think I may have downloaded the previous one by accident.

I compared the file you uploaded to the one I have, which I'm confident was the newest release (version 4), and they are an exact match (based on several various checksums).

Thank you.

As far as I know, the mapper I downloaded was the latest, but I'm not completely sure. I do notice a difference between lo and hi with it and it works, though. However, I definitely downloaded it after September 5th and the previous link was on September 3rd. I think the difference in date may be due to a different time zone.
Any chance this will be officially incorporated into the OS?

I'm not the right person to ask, I just uploaded the mapper. Any chance of anyone uploading the September 6th mapper to compare? I think I may have downloaded the previous one by accident.

Mega EverDrive / Re: Patched EEPROM ROMs?

I have a v1, and I researched NBA Jam Tournament Edition earlier in the year. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but I'm under the impression you need this version: NBA Jam Tournament Edition (JUE) (REV 00) [f1].

Yeah, the normal ROM of NBA Jam TE doesn't play at all (just gives a black and blue screen). The fixed version plays, but I'm not sure if it's a save fix.

I tested a few of them on v2. All ROMs are No-Intro.

NBA Jam - Does NOT Save

odd. NBA Jam v. 1.1 from the smokemonster set is saving for me (the stats showed up after I turned the system off and back on after I played a full game and entered my initials. It also created a backup .eep file), though Tournament Edition still has a blue screen. At least I have the real cart for the latter, though I have it for the former too.

edit: I checked the checksum for the ROM I used and it doesn't seem to been altered from the standard No Intro ROM.

Mega EverDrive / Re: wily wars saving issues
« on: October 11, 2016, 04:27 PM »
Wily Wars uses a EEPROM to save for the (EU) version. There is a patch that changes it to SRAM that the v2/X7 recognizes. It should be available at romhacking.net. However I could'nt get the patched (J) version of Rockman Megaworld to work, even patched it won't recognize it. (Maybe because the (J) version is already SRAM, and I patched it with the fix...probably messed it up) I do know the (EU) version does save when patched with the fix.

BTW, I'm using the v2 with OS ver 3.00

As I said before, I used the SRAM EU patched version from romhacking.net (I used the Europe No Intro ROM and even checked the checksum) and couldn't get it to save. I even tried the pre-patched one from the smokemonster set and couldn't get it to save.

I have been testing each ROM by beating the Bomb Man stage in Mega Man 1, saving afterwards, and then resetting. When I turn off the option to return to menu after reset, the game doesn't show Bomb Man being beaten in slot one. When I have the menu option on, and reset after saving, Bomb Man doesn't show up as beaten either (when I do the same in emulator, Bomb Man shows up as beaten). I did this with multiple ROMs, and it was the same deal. I'm on OS 3.02.

Other saves work fine. Even Wonder Boy in Monster World saves.
