Please check the date. You have replied to an outdated post from back when beta 2 was still current. I have recommended RC4-6 since then, 4 seems to be the most stable of these. Beta 2 is not recommended.

With regards to SD Cards, I think a first step anybody must do is 100% abandon using Windows' built-in formatting tool.  Do a google search for the SD Card Association's SD Card Formatter.  Then just use the "overwrite" option in there and format your cards.  I had issues in an Everdrive that formatting via the SD Card Association's formatting tool completely corrected.

I tried a different formatting tool and just used the SD card association's tool just in case, but the errors vary depending on system, so I doubt that it's an SD card issue.

edit: I reformatted using the SD card association tool with a full format and still have the same issue on the top loading NES.

If they don't work on your setup, then I'm genuinely sorry but no one owes you anything beyond what's advertised in v16.

Did you really need to say something like this? I'm grateful that the upgrades even exist and I didn't expect anything beyond OS 16, but I fell like I'm being discouraged from pointing out bugs. I agree nobody owes me anything, but it's frustrating when a bug is pointed out and explained in detail in a post and confirmed to be happening with multiple users (and I'm referring to mapper 99, not the SD errors), and instead, due to a lack of communication, an update happens that shouldn't have happened in the first place. OS20 does work on the majority of my systems and I'm thankful for the MMC5 and improved FDS sound.

Mega EverDrive / Re: Rockman or Megaman can’t play on my X5

Doesn’t this game need to be SRAM patched to work on an Everdrive?

Not the latest version with mostly full EEPROM support (not sure if NBA Jam and some ROMs of NBA Jam TE were fixed in 3.07).

Edit: Doh. X5, not X7. No EEPROM support for x5. You will need a patched EU rom or the JP version of the game with SRAM. A patch for the EU version can be found here.

Super Game Boy runs some games slightly fast, but the JP only Super Game Boy 2 runs them at the correct speed. It's also possible to mod a Super Game Boy to run games at the correct speed. There are also a handful of games that have SGB only palettes and borders like Donkey Kong, Kirby's Dreamland 2, Galaga/Galaxian, the JP Namco Gallery collections, and Game & Watch gallery. Space Invaders US/EU has an actual SNES game on the cart that can be played using a Super Gameboy.

Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Game Boy Advance games are region free and will play on any region system. However, the Game Boy Player disc isn't region free and will only play on systems of the same region.

RC6 is what you want to use.
I have no problems on all of my Famicoms with OS v20 RC6.

AVS is a hardware emulator, and if it doesn't run like the real hardware, retroUSB should fix that, not krikzz.
OS v16 worked on the AVS with no problems because retroUSB tweaked the AVS to work with v16.

Besides, all signes pointing at krikzz cooking a new N8 Pro.  :)

For me, OS16 has artifacts on AVS and OS20 doesn't (not sure if fixed in the latest firmware, though). OS20, aside from RC7 on the latest AVS firmware actually runs better on AVS for me than OS16. I know full well AVS is a FPGA simulation and not quite perfect. I know that there are issues on the AVS side.

AV Famicom works great with OS20, but the official Nintendo top loading NES is getting the SD errors. I don't know if I NES style Everdrive would do the same thing.

I suggest seeking out ROMs with the full game title, Rockman - Mega World (Japan).md and Mega Man - The Wily Wars (Europe).md

I know a couple of users had problems on PAL systems. Not sure if that's the issue, but the 1.30 firmware of the AVS had a similar problem when it tweaked the PAL support. While I'm sure it's an issue on the AVS side, maybe looking in to it can shed some light on why some PAL NES systems have a similar SD card crash?

I'm sorry I came off the wrong way, but the problem I had with the mapper 99 issue is that it's something I mentioned a long time ago, something that was talked about on the forum, and something that seemed to be completely ignored with no explanation of why. It's not something I wanted fixed ASAP, but I even went as far as posting a link to the hack here (the patch can be found at I didn't mention it to be rude, but because it was something that was working before.

I wish Krikzz would post more on the forums. Not to mention that mapper 99 was working in OS 16 and broken in OS20 with no word on why it hasn't been fixed yet or why it was even supported in the first place (I don't mind support for it, but I was not expecting a surprised response to a hack being used for the Vs System mapper when most VS System games are only compatible with NES via hack). There was also a minor issue with the Mega Everdrive OS where full eeprom support was added, but save support for NBA Jam and some roms of NBA TE were broken with no mention of why this happened (I'm not sure if this was fixed in 3.07).

edit: I read a post on twitter where Krikzz said that he hasn't updated in awhile because he feels not many users are having issues with OS v20.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Multiple different errors - Halp?

Beyond that, I know there are other folks that have had issues with the V20 releases and SD card errors.  If you have an older card, perhaps, maybe give it a shot.  But I'd think at a minimum V16 should work.

(Also, forgot to mention that I'm not actually getting SD card errors, so what works for me might not have anything to do with what you're experiencing.)

The SD card errors on the V20 releases have nothing do with the SD card used and only affect some hardware (which is why only some people have them). The only hardware that I have them on is a top loading NES.

Maybe I misread Krikzz here, but this is the post that said the error didn't have to do with the SD card:

Also, the AV Famicom and AVS have no SD errors with the Everdrive betas, but the top loading NES with adapter does. This is after multiple reformats. Also, on AVS firmware 1.30 final, the Everdrive had similar SD issues in PAL mode, but not in NTSC. AVS firmware 1.30 beta 5 is fine in PAL mode with the Everdrive betas.

I also have a front loading NES, but the everdrive doesn't fit with the adapter, so I wasn't able to test it.

Top Gear 3000 uses a different DSP chip from pilotwings. Pilotwings uses DSP1 and Top Gear 3000 uses DSP4.

I'm very new to this and was curious what's wrong with rc7? It's the version I've had on my ED for months and I haven't run into any issues with it. Granted I haven't played much on it, maybe that's why I haven't had issues yet.

Have you tried it on the AVS? MMC3 was tweaked and MMC3 games crash on AVS.
