Mega EverDrive / question about sms bios with MD_X7
« on: February 09, 2018, 01:58 PM »
I'm getting my MD_X7 back from being repaired today. I have the sms bios from the no-intro romset.

My question  is, where exactly do I place the bios, and exactly how are the files supposed to be named so the MD_X7 recognizes them?

sms mode broken on your unit

If that's the case, is there documentation with other users that had a similar issue like mine? Again I won't be able to test until I get my replacement MED_X7, but if it is a system issue, I'd like to know so I could take my system apart and check.

EverDrive MD / MED_X7 not playing sms roms on VA6 model 1 Genesis
« on: December 15, 2017, 01:15 PM »
I had a VA2 model 1 Genesis earlier this year, when I used the MED_X7 on it, i was able to load Master System roms on it.

I no longer have that system, now I have a VA6 model 1 Genesis, which has the TMSS when you power on the system. When I try to select any Master System rom with my MED_X7, I instantly get a black screen for about 5 seconds, then kicked back to the file menu within the MED_X7.

Is there some sort of modification I need to do to my VA6, to allow sms roms to play off of the MED_X7? (I recently sent the MED_X7 back to the Ukraine for a replacement one, so I can't do further testing till I get a new one back)

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks.

Where did you see the problem in Double Dragon II?  I can't recreate this in the first mission, anyway.  I have had some weird mapper quirks, though, when upgrading to a new version of the OS.  In fact, I had to reformat and copy twice to get it to "take" with OS v16, for whatever reason.

It was during any mission. Any MMC3 game producing an irq, that split would fluctuate/shake violently. But when I reverted to the v15 OS, every MMC3 game that I've played all my life, worked 100% perfectly.

Well, I just went to the downloads section for the N8, viewed the changeling for v16, it says there were "MMC3 irq improvements" so I obtained the previous v15 OS, installed that onto my SD card, and now every MMC3 that I've personally tried, the irq's work perfectly fine.

Idk what those supposed changes were in v16, but it doesn't work with my cartridge.

Problem solved.

Fluctuations, meaning the bottom split screen jumps up and down. The IRQ scanline, that creates the split, to allow with different name tables on one screen, the bottom portion which usually the info bar for whichever game, fluctuates/jumps. I have the gray cartridge N8 Everdrive, I believe it's using the latest bios. The cartridge pins & system connector are clean. I know it's not my system, because I took out the Everdrive and used my CF Powerpak, and my MMC3 games perfectly fine.

I keep getting fluctuations in MMC3 games that have split screens. This is happening to me with Super Mario Bros. 3, and Double Dragon II.

This has never happened with me on my powerpak, and it's only happening on this everdrive.

I'm using an official NES frontloader, original power supply. And I have the original cartridges of the games I've mentioned here, and I have zero issues.

What do I do? Thanks!

Still have not received any notification from the store, regarding my issue.

So ive read as much as I could find here, as to how to have proper .YML files, how to either "true" or "false" whichever cheats for said game using a laptop/pc, I know that you are only allowed 6 ROM cheats, and 20something RAM cheats simultaneously activated.

Now, I had an entire set for Contra 3 set to "true" I turned on the SD2SNES, and I loaded the game. I haven't done any button combos since starting the game, and I've noticed the cheats are active right off the bat, which I don't have a problem with at all. But, when I press L+R+Start+B to disable the cheats, they don't disable? I know my button combinations work, cause I'm still able to reset the game, or reset back to the SD2SNES root directory.

Am I doing this correctly? Am I missing a step? Thanks for reading & any help/info!

Then what do you suggest for a brand? It doesn't make sense because at bootup, the card is read, you can navigate, you can load, apply cheats. But when the cartridge has been receiving power for an extended period of consistent time, then the everdrive menu buttons stop functioning, and when you return to the main menu, you only have 4 to 5 seconds to make a quick choice before the SD errors occur.

This is not a problem with the cards I've purchased, I use these in multiple everdrive devices with zero issues. It is an issue with the Mega Everdrive. If this was a card issue, it wouldn't work from the start, but it does, until time passes and the cartridge fails to read it.

Do you know when I should get some sort of response? Haven't received any confirmation or followup.

Ive had the Mega Everdrive X7 since early 2017. It appears that the longer the MED X7 is receiving power from the Genesis, the SD function will flake out. I've purchased 3 different micro sd cards, formatted them a bunch of different ways, and I still get the same result of SD errors. It is the only Everdrive device that does this, (I have Everdrives for Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and the SD2SNES, and they function properly)

So if I have the Genesis on for over 20 minutes, and want to switch games, this is when the SD errors begin to occur. Is there anyway I can get an exchange for a normally working MED X7? It is not the sd cards I've been purchasing, and I've done extensive tests, and this is where I am left. Is it possible to get an exchange?

Thanks for reading. :-)
