SD2SNES Pro problems
« on: April 14, 2019, 01:54 AM »
Just got my universal cart in the mail and I'm having 2 issues:

1) Does not fit well in my SNES. The tab that pushes out when you press in the "power" tab does not align right with the groove in the face of the cartridge. If I barely push the cart into the SNES it will fit okay. This is annoying, but not the end of the world. The other issue is the bigger deal . . .

2) There are lines on the screen and the games are playing choppy. This is really pronounced on the intro for FF3 which I've attached an image of. The game loaded up, cut out, and then was working . . . sort of, but I'm getting these lines. I know the files work fine because I was playing them on an everdrive just earlier today (and have been for months!). I tried a few other games and I'm having the same issue.

I am a newb when it comes to this stuff, so maybe I'm missing something here. But considering the cartridge doesn't fit in my snes and I just dropped $200 bucks on this, I'm not feeling really happy about this purchase right now.

Hi!

Please make photos of the cartridge and console and upload it here.

Thanks!

With the picture of the cartridge, I'm not sure if it's easy to see, but the catridge is pushed back at an angle when I push the power on.

Did you try using it without the shell to see if there was a difference?

No, but I know that the groove in the face of the cartridge is the issue. Comparing it to my Everdrive, the Everdrive groove is bigger and fits perfectly. The SD2SNES PRO is smaller and maybe not as deep. Otherwise the cartridges are the same exact size.

Just now I took off the front and at fits fine. However, I'm still having the same MAIN issue: the lines on the screen, games playing glitchy,  choppy and cutting in and out.

These are all roms that work fine and have been working fine for the last 6 months on the everdrive cart I have.

DO you know what the issue is with that?

I am using the official power adapter that came with my SNES. It's an official Super Nintendo adapter.

And just to recap, these are the issues:

Video/audio cutting in and out
Lines cutting across screen
Screen getting scrambled

The menu is fine. Doesn't glitch out on me. But whenever I load a game, it's unstable/unplayable.

I downloaded the latest 1.10.3 firmware. Could that be the issue?

That firmware has been reported to be unstable, so it would be wise to run 1.10.2.

I personally haven't been having issues with .3 on an American snes with the HD retro vision cables on my CRT.

Please do not try this friends.  My card became stuck and I have damaged it on removal.
