Turbo Everdrive v2.5 Problems

Hey, I have the original, white PC Engine and was wondering if the Jail Bar fix could effect the compatibility of the Everdrive?

Quick rundown of my situation.

• Problem I'm having is that some games work while others load a black screen.
• When it works, it seems to work fine! But I can't play half the games I want to play (Ninja Spirit, Splatter House, etc.)
• TG16/PCE Switch is in the correct position.
• I have disconnected the PCE from my interface unit and connected it to my TV over RF and I still get the same problems, so it's not my IFU or the CD Drive causing these problems.
• Only mod work done to my PCE was the Jailbar fix, which involved replacing two surface mount capacitors to clean up the video signal.
• Pretty sure I don't have any access to a stock unit to test on, but I'm looking for one. Don't know what consoles some of my friends may have.

Good question I have no idea, I've been trying to run it ever since the past 5 years ago but cannot even get it to load up on my computer. It seems to be only working on older devices outside of Windows 10 and was used to decrypt roms so they could work on other devices... as of now I haven't had a way of getting it to load but that's what is needed to make Turbografx-16 roms work as they are locked otherwise.

I tried the No Intro set before posting here based on some of the older threads that were posted and got the same results.

It loads fine for me in 64-bit Windows. It's a command-line application, so you can't just double-click it. Check out a tutorial on how to use command-line applications in Windows.

But you should really just avoid broken roms from the start. There is no need to fix cleanly dumped roms. I checked USA version of Ninja Spirit from the no-intro set using pcetoy and it's not encrypted and works fine on my PC Engine using the TED 2. The no-intro romset isn't perfect for PC Engine, but as it doesn't include any hacks, it's at least better than the old goodtools romset which includes all kinds of broken shit.


The PC Engine is sensitive to mods though, so the jail-bar mod might be causing problems after all.
You may also want to try elmer's OS for the TED 2. The original OS apparently breaks some games.

Hmm... a command line you say? So in short its like MS DOS where you would have to input a prompt in the RUN box for it to load up. I wonder if that explains why the converter that made speed hacks for SNESAdvance never ran but the converter did, I am not too well vased on how apps run these days but I remember the old DOS prompts back in the day.

Had trouble w/my white PCE after doing this along w/the electrolytics.  The RF shield I had left off for testing.  After reading a person's claim this can cause problems, I replaced the RF shield and the PCE has worked very well since.

The RF shield in question is the piece of material soldered to the bottom of the unit, right? Because mine is attached.

Thanks for the info nuu. I will keep in in mind for further reference if I ever decide to continue the SNESAdvance revival project in the near future as speed hacks would likely be vital to make SNES2GBA ports run at a much faster speed. But as my fixture pack of camera following revisions was unacknowledged by Smokemonster in 2018 back on EP forums I kind of dropped out of the phase of continuing it any further and began a new on working with the anime community in resyncing franchises that never had a physical product and making them possible for others... my camera follow revisions I mean stuff like this btw - https://imgur.com/a/KvwMe4n
