Freezing and randomly crashing after using save states

I was playing Super Mario Land DX, a romhack that remakes the original in color. I was enjoying myself and decided to use the save state feature, which I'm not sure whether or not I regret. After this, I would begin to randomly crash ingame or reset to the menu. I reset thinking this was just an ingame thing, but the menu started to also crash.

Yea, I crash in pretty much every game now. Not sure what's going on because it's formatted to FAT32

It only works on real hardware being the EDGB it always crashes and resets on Goomba hence the pillar boxes on the screen ratio of the image

How "exactly" did you pressed the cart button?

It seems that the Everdrive went bad, but do you have another retail cart to check this?
