GBA sized Everdrive _?_
« on: November 10, 2020, 12:46 PM »
Hi everybody

Some people asked in other topics, but I think it deserves a topic of it's own. Is it possible to build an Everdrive for GB that will be the size of GBA cart. Nowadays I mostly play GB and GBC games on GBAs, and it is very inconvenient to have it sticking out especially on the GBA SP.
If you think that's silly, there is GBA flash cart that doesn't stick of DS lite smaller than the main console And while we are at it a GBA cart with GBA size would be real nice too

I used to dred GBA sized carts years ago for some reason, something about them being too flimsy and rectangle and hard to notice them when stored away. I always liked GB carts as they were big and easy to notice this oddly was the opposite of NES to SNES however but on that question I think a GBA sized GB cart did exist as the GB carts came in different shapes.

There most definitely was never a GB game released in a GBA sized shell. How would you have removed it from the GB? lol.

KRIKzz actually does make a GBA Everdrive. It's called the GBA X5 Mini, and you can emulate GB and GBC games on it quite easily. Hope that answers your question!

I think that means the size and structure only a certain few GBA everdrives ever managed to get the correct ratios for the device, that being the EZ flash and the Super Card SD... I have yet to get an X5 Mini so am not sure if the dimensions are the same but if it's a bit thinner than the GBA Everdrive that was designed to be like Yoshi's Topsy Turvy it may be close but will still have something that makes it look off. The other GB everdrives always were pretty true sized and are exactually the same...

That is correct for the older ones, but I recently picked up an X5 mini and it seems to be true to the original GBA cart size. Here's a picture of it next to a standard cart:
