What? Color mixing on the NES? You mean color multiplexing?

GBC mode can show up to at least 32 colors and can generate as many different colors as SNES can (32768). That's not a problem.

A DMG however can only show up to 4 shades of pea soup.

I think it's pretty impressive though it looks like the HUD is just a static water smudged image considering was made by the same ones who did those Rocket Games that had all sorts of trickery done to it, from what I can gather it has a lot of colours more so as it's just a Gameboy cheat cartridge I have had for years though I wouldn't count the Action Replay GBC/GBA one as it was made for GBA by default so the extra settings are beneficial to the GBA.

No it doesn't, and it's not possible. The LCD controller only uses 4 shades of green/yellow which is just 4 different brightness settings of the green dots on a yellow screen. You can't hack in more than the 4 ones used unless you hack the LCD hardware, and that wouldn't benefit existing games like Super Mario Land which is coded for only 4 colors. Maybe you can simulate new colors by flashing or something though.

We must keep in mind however the Xploder GB device was a very long purple cheat cartridge which had a unique feature where it would either show 4 sides of pea soup when used on a standard Gameboy or a Gambeoy colour it would show many different colours kind of like a built in trainer did back in the 90's so with this evidence it is true a theme editor could use a huge amount of colours for the GBA/GBC device but it would need a lot of stuff done to make it display all that.

Anyone who remembers code junkies will know that a lot of sound effects on the cheat cartridge came from their games such as Space Invasion, Karate Joe to name a few.

Color multiplexing can be done in GBC mode by using raster effects. I think that's what you are remembering.

Despite what a few of you indicated, the EverDrive X3, X5, and X7 models do not run in DMG mode on the GBC, but utilize a basic color palette. So I was able to create a theme editor for the GB EverDrives! Check it out!

@orangeglo: I just noticed one weird thing: After running Diagnostics from the Menu, the colors revert back to their original state. A restart will fix that though ^^

Yup this is a known bug, unfortunately the diagnostic menu changes the palette, and I haven't found a foolproof way to restore the custom theme reliably when you go back to the main menu due to the way certain palette entries are overwritten. I figure it's not too big of a deal :)
If I can fix it in the future I will though.
