Soft Reset back to Everdrive Menu
« on: June 16, 2014, 07:41 AM »
Could I please request a feature for the next OS update.

I would like to be able to soft reset the NES mid game by holding down A+B+START+SELECT for 2 seconds so I can go back to the everdrive menu.

Thanks

There's an option to make the system reset to either game or menu I think.

That only affects what pushing the reset button on the console does.
Everdrive N8, Everdrive N8 Pro, Game Doctor SF7, SD2SNES rev E1, Everdrive 64 v2, Jaguar SD, PSIO
EMS USB 64M, Everdrive GB v1.1, Everdrive GB X7 rev B, Everdrive GBA X5, CycloDS Evolution + M3 GBA Expansion

Yes that should be sufficient.

Yes that option is available but it's not the same as what the OP requested. I'd like to add my vote for a future OS update that would allow the system to reset from the controller, rather than by pressing the reset button on the NES.  8)

Ah ok, damn you are lazy. ;) In that case I would prefer it to be an option that has to be turned on in the menu first.

Does anyone know if this feature would need to be implemented in the OS itself or somewhere else? I'd like to try taking a shot at implementing it but I'm not sure if regular users have access or if it can only be implemented by Krikzz. What I'd like to do is simply trap start+select pressed at the same time to trigger a system reset.

This would be a great addition if it's possible. Start + Select + A + B to soft reset would rock.

it should be implemented in OS and in each mapper

Thanks for the confirmation Krikzz. Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll show up in an upcoming update  ;)

It should also be an optional feature as the save states, since it could conflict with existing button actions in games like the Konami code and similar things. And I wouldn't like the game to reset accidentally while mashing buttons.

I second this. Although a nice feature (as well as save states) It would be nice to have an option to turn this feature off on the option menu.

Hey KRIKzz,

do yopu plan to implement this feature? Or do you plan to implement other features accessed by controller button combinations pressed?
The reason why I'm asking is, because I have implemented a small PIC doin' the same. I just want to be sure that there will be no interference with my implementation!

At the moment I have:
- Shortreset by pressing Start+Select+A+B shortly
- Longreset by pressing Start+Select+A+B for roughly 2s (not important here but for Powerpak-users, personally I prefere the EDN8 ;) )

And for the NESRGB-Version:
- Start+Select+D-pad right/D-Pad left: switching color palette forward / backward

Thank you in advance,
borti4938 :)

I don't see how the EDN8 will be able to control something that is usually controlled with a toggle switch.  Were you being sarcastic?  Can't tell if serious.

not the EDN8!!!

This is not a with list! ;) Everything mentioned above is controlled by a microcontroller simply connected to the Controllerport, Resetline and 123-pads of viletims NESRGB-board.

Just want to be sure that will be no interferences with planning features of the EDN8!
