Burn/Melt marks on Turbografx Systems?
«

Perhaps I'm just getting really random results but I seem to see multiple pictures of US Turbografx and Turbo Duo systems with "melt" marks, like someone sat a hot screw driver down on them.
Any reasoning for this or am I just crazy?

The burns are more like melt marks.

I am willing to guess that they are soldering iron marks.
I used to import (into the UK) from Japan retro consoles and it was not uncommon to see this.

The plastic used to house TG16 and PCE consoles get quite soft when in hot environments. Some people store their systems with cords wrapped around them, causing the marks you see.

That makes SO much sense! Thank you. Many marks on the systems and controllers have a crescent shape to them.
The soldering iron also makes a ton of sense. Man, I feel dumb. Thanks guys.
