Save Type: Off?
« on: August 18, 2016, 01:53 PM »
Many no-intro roms, e.g., Fire Emblem, Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow, USA and other versions, show Save Type: Off under rom info and will not save? Anybody else experience these two results, off and not saving, for these two for example? There is no way to change save type either, that I can figure out.

I have not updated to OS 1.02 yet, I'm still on 1.01. My Goomba and PockrtNES roms show  save type off and won't save. Has anybody had success saving with emulation-based roms?

I'm using OS v1.02 now.
Save type is "OFF" for goomba color and pocketnes compilation roms.
The same roms save on EZ Flash IV. Both the original and EZ4 client-patched versions of the roms say save type is "NONE" in GBA Tool Advance and the SRAM patcher is disabled for them.
If find that odd, because the EZ4 client-patched version still saves on the EZ Flash, but does nothing on EDGBA.
What am I missing?
Has anyone had success with saving with goomba color and pocketnes compilations?

Just turn it on manually in options, after than you select the rom. Set certain save type and push the start to launch the game, that's it. At this moment ed-gba OS databse contains saves detection only for official games, homebrew and emulators turned off by default

Ok, I "Select Only" the game, then Options>Save Type: SRAM, then back out of Options, and then press "Start." I play up to a point where I can save in the game. I "restart" in goomba and verify that the save is there and loads. Then I turn of the game and turn it back on. I repeat the above, "Select Only" then Options>Save Type: SRAM, then back out of Options and press "Start." Still no saved game. When I exit to check SAVE directory, nothing is in there. Maybe I'm not understanding your instructions. Can someone describe the process they used to get a goomba save to work?

Any change in looking at the official save type for Gensou Suikoden Card Stories / Suikoden Card Stories?  The Japanese game is official (the translation is not) both have save type off.
