What about an everdrive for GameCube?
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:30 PM »
I think this could be the last big thig for this kind of solutions to preserve our games... a way to put an HDD into an GC console, like wii, but in GC.

What do you think?

I know everyone will moan and say it's not worth it because you can just use a Wii with dios mios but I've never got it to work and overall it's a PITA.

The gamecube was another massively underrated console. I still can't figure out why people didn't like Mario Sunshine.

what you want is called "IDE-EXI". Though good luck finding it.
PM me if you want to sell your Everdrive MD.

id love to see a wideley/affordable solution for GC that can run games off a external HDD like the wii can, the IDE-EXI is gonna be hard to get hold of, but i dont think the everdrive forum is the place to ask this, just look at the current everdrives and you will notice they are all cartridge based, i cant ever see krikzz working on consoles with a CD/DVD drive ever.

For an IDE-EXI adapter, go for gc-forever.com, register and you'll find a thread selling some.
I've already one, and 2 will come soon. They cost 25$.

I prefer a New Megadriver with ISO support or Saturn Everdrive

2 will come soon? so they still not easily or readily available then?  and btw i just joined and no sign of anyone sellin any at all  ::) not keen of the idea of havin a PCB stickin out the cube with a risk of it snapping anyway, wiikey fusion seems to make more sense than that or just playing off a wii with a HDD properly attatched to it. what about the SD media launcher kit from datel? theres a few ways of playing games off SD but i prefer the wii over the cube anyday..

i got some issues from using sd adapter for wii. it might be related to the low sd card read speeds or not. if not, there will still be stutters with ide hard disk at gamecube, which is not nice at all.

i do all my gamecube gaming from my wii. no problem so far.

The gamecube was another massively underrated console. I still can't figure out why people didn't like Mario Sunshine.

I hear ya ... my softmodded Wii works as-is, and I have no plans of ever changing anything on it, ever again. The external HDD holds my Wii games. The SD card holds a bunch of VC and a few Wiiware games. And I can play Gamecube with backup disks using the disk drive. And it's all perfectly stable. I looked at dios mios and decided I'd rather not attempt it. What I have now works.

If anything, I would consider finding a used Gamecube and modding it before I messed with my Wii again. In fact, I may do exactly that once I've financially recovered from some things that are going on right now (like the one-month family vacation to Japan - yikes!).

Come soon means they're on the way, in a package somewhere between USA and France :)
And there will be no PSB out of my Cube because I will do a special case using a GBA player, and hide all this stuff including HDD under the Cube.
And yes I could play GC games on a Wii. If i follow your reasoning, I could play all the oldies on a computer, or a XBOX with all their emulators.
But i don't want.
I play all my oldies games on their original support using Everdrives and others devices. Why should it be different for the GameCube ?
And furthermore, i like all the pretty tiny electronic "garbage" that can be invented by and for foolish gamers.
That IS the way oldies gaming should be lived...
