SD2SNES issues (freezing)

Howdy!

I recently purchased an SD2SNES via a large group buy. The cart seems to freeze when perusing the menus at random times.

Occasionally, it has locked during a game.

Resetting the system resolves the problem, but occasionally it will freeze just seconds after being reset.

Here is what I have tried:

• 3 different systems, all original models. This was also tested (not by me) on a SNES mini and was reported as working fine
• 3 different SD cards, two 8 GB SDHC, one 1 GB SD
• PSU with higher current (thinking it was a power draw issue?) 10V 1.5A vs. stock 10V 850mA
• Installed into cartridge shell, thinking it was an alignment issue

Any ideas? I am afraid this one might be defective

Well, interesting solution!

I downgraded the firmware to 0.1.4a, and now it works fine.

Same here...freezes all the time when browsing the games list. Downgrading did not help...unfortunately highly disappointing. Has someone else found another solution or is my cart defect?

Did you remove your tabs on your snes to make it region free ? Reason i ask is because i had the same problem. Worked fine when i had the tabs; however when i removed them (Removed a good chunk, but wasn't able to sand down.), i had the same problem. I ended up testing it on my friend's SNES and a SNES in a mom and pop game store. Both work great (Ended up buying the one in the mom and pop shop and gave my old one to a friend. :p). Long story short, seems like a misalignment issue.

SIDENOTE: Probably already known; however, it freezes on a Supaboy as well. Unfortunately, this is because it can't hold enough power to run it. The solution is to keep it plugged in while playing. Works fine on the Pokefami and it's US clone; however, the system in general is faulty (Flashcart or not.).

Removing those plastic tabs shouldn't affect the carts playability.  All they do is prevent a Japanese cart from going all the way down.

I was using the deluxe us version from SAG. Was thinking since i didn't sand/or dremel the excess plastic off, the alignment was off (Cause it was working fine before the removable). :\ On the other hand, maybe i knicked something along the way when opening the system. None the less, got a new system and works fine. Just wanted to add my 2 cents is all.

Thanks for your help. I did not remove the tabs and use original Snes consoles. The cart is brand new (recieved it from Reyrogates 2 weeks ago). I hope Krikzz can help me.

It seems that downgrading to firmware 1.3 and below does the trick. What might be wrong with my cart because the newer firmware versions freeze the screen while browsing the games list?

I rather use 1.4a (or 1.5 for that matter) because of better compatibility with games :-(

after overwriting bsxbios.bin and cx4.bin firmwate 1.4a also works. 1.5 just keeps freezing. Hopefully we will see a newer firmware in the near future......

Seems like v 1.5 is unstable, it works fine for some users and does not work for other

It is possible. May be even it happend only with some combinations of console and cartridge
