Analogue Mega sg and X7
« on: February 07, 2019, 07:10 PM »
@KRIKzz with the release of the upcoming Analogue sg, would it be possible to add support for some other things like .gg (Game Gear) without the need of a cart adapter?

X7 already support gg files

The X7 supports .GG files? In what way does it, are you saying that if I had an X7 I could play .GG roms natively on any Megadrive? or only on the Mega SG?

This is from the X7 manual -

It happens because some games used specific video modes, this modes were removed from
16-bit VDP. SEGA-SG1000 and SEGA GameGear video modes are not supported by 16-bit VDP
as well. Such games may start, but the system will display garbled grafix instead of the game

on real sega megadrive, gg need to be patched
on mega sg, you need to wait for analogue to add gg support

To clarify, the V2/X7 can read gg files, but the md/genesis can't play stock gg games since the hardware isn't fully compatible. However, the mega sg can play sms mode gg games. Genesis can't play them since it lacks an equivalent for the gg start button.

Wait for the jailbroken firmware to be released for Mega sg. It may have better compatibility than the mega everdrive.
