New X7 OS v1.03
« on: October 16, 2019, 02:44 PM »
Hi Krikzz, I see a new version of the OS is available for download.  I read the changelog, but don't really understand what it means.

Do the changes allow any new games to be supported?

There's really that much homebrew for SMS?  I try to keep up, and it's not really a booming community.  Even the high profile ones, like say Sydney Hunter, are not downloadable.

Not much, IIRC, but something like this opens up the opportunity for more homebrew games that'll be original console compatible and not just through emulation.

Thanks guys.  But am I correct that this feature cannot be used unless the FPGA has been updated?

Hi, I purchased the Master Everdrive last year, with the promise that it would support 4mbyte ROMs, and found that to be not the case.

If my cartridge doesn't have the "v02 FPGA core", what is my method of getting the matter resolved? The lack of replies to the thread I tried to make earlier doesn't really fill me with faith. :(

Yes, and how do you tell if we have the v02 core?  I love the X7 but this issue is a little confusing.

Yes. Send it back is the only way if you need those features for large sized homebrew. ICE40 is one time programmable FPGA so in any case need FPGA chip or whole cart replacement.

Ok, I will contact customer support after the holidays then.

Looks like the latest OS v1.04 somehow broke the in-game menu. Most of the time the system hangs when I try to access the in-game menu. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't. Saving/loading states works about 50% of times, returning to main menu glitches almost always.

When I downgraded back to OS v1.03 everything seems to be working again.

EDIT: Ok, now I had the same glitch with OS v1.03 when returning to main menu from in-game-menu. System hangs with green screen. At least this is not so frequent with OS v1.03 as it was with v1.04.

I never sent my X7 back for retrofit and I am so glad I didn't.  With the virus, who knows how long it would have been delayed or stuck overseas.

Is the shipping back to normal between the Ukraine and the USA?
