What's the trick to getting this thing to work?

I've had an issue with the N8 Pro ever since I bought the thing. I bought it in January, when the NES version first came out (maybe it was February).

I have a front-loading NES with the Hi-Def NES mod. Every OS I've used (most recent being 2.08) will *NOT* work with the HDMI output. I get a gray screen for a second, then blackness.

However, when I use the composite outputs on the same NES (those aren't disabled by the HDMI mod), it works fine.

How are people getting this to work, or do I have a dud unit? If that's the case, how do I go about getting a replacement? I bought the thing directly from Krikzz.

Very frustrating.

If cart is one from early batch with jumper populated at 5v point then you should ask for replacement.

That said, I'm receiving an NT Mini next month (hopefully). Does the N8 Pro work without issues on the NT Mini from Analogue? If so, then I'll leave my N8 Pro as it is.
