Everdrive N8 - Dip Switches on NWC
« on: June 24, 2020, 05:36 AM »
Howdy ya’ll,

Im loving my new N8 but have a question.  Is there a way to set the jumpers on NWC (mapper 105)?  Id like it to default to the official time limit of 6:21 rather than the default 5 mins.  Please let me know if this is possible?  If not, is anyone aware of a game genie code that could do the same thing?  Thanks!

I agree, DIP switch support for mappers with DIP switches on cartridge wanted.

There are more mappers with dipswitch settings than you might think.  Mappers 45, 83 and 90 have dip switches or jumpers, and there are other mappers which the EverDrive N8 doesn't support that also have them.

Mapper 99 also has dipswitch support? That one's a bit different since it's specifically for arcade hardware, though.

Mapper 99 has dipswitches, but it is tricky or perhaps even impossible to simulate on a flash cart because it repurposes the bits at $4016 and $4017 which are used in different ways in a NES and Famicom versus the Vs. System.

Mapper 99 is Vs System and the DIP switches are on the system instead of on the cartridge. It's not exactly the same situation as with NWC 1990 and the mentioned pirate mappers with DIP switches.
The games needs to be hacked to work on a normal NES or Famicom. Custom mappers or auto-patches that hacks them may not be desirable either (unless they are somehow optional), since some people might be using an EDN8 on a real Vs System.

Some Vs System games have been hacked to work on a regular Famicom or NES.
